An archetype signal dependent noise (SDN) model is a component used in analyzing images or signals acquired from different technologies. This model-component may share properties with stationary normal white noise (WN). Measurements from WN images were used as standards for making comparisons with SDN in both the image domain (ID) and Fourier domain (FD). The ID wavelet expansion was applied to WN images (n = 1000). Orthogonality conditions were used to parametrically model the variance decomposition, as described in both domains. FD components were investigated with probability density function modeling and summarized measures. SDN images were constructed by multiplying both simulated and clinical mammograms (both with n = 1000) by WN. The variance decomposition for both WN and SDN decreases exponentially as a parametric function of the ID expansion level; expansion image variances for both types of noise were captured similarly in the Fourier plane corresponding with the ID parametric model. The Fourier transform of WN has a uniform power spectrum distributed exponentially; SDN has similar attributes. Fourier inversion of the lag-autocorrelation performed in the FD produced a statistical estimation of the SDN's image factor. These findings are counterintuitive as SDN can be nonstationary in the ID but have stationary attributes in the FD.

The world is moving towards the utilization of hydrogen vehicle technology because its advantages are uniformity in power production, more efficiency, and high durability when compared to fossil fuels. So, in this work, the Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Stack (PEMFS) device is selected for producing the energy for the hydrogen vehicle. The merits of this fuel technology are the possibility of operating less source temperature, and more suitability for stationery and transportation applications.

Emotions play a crucial role in human thoughts, cognitive processes, and decision-making. EEG has become a widely utilized tool in emotion recognition due to its high temporal resolution, real-time monitoring capabilities, portability, and cost-effectiveness. In this paper, we propose a novel end-to-end emotion recognition method from EEG signals, called MSDCGTNet, which is based on the Multi-Scale Dynamic 1D CNN and the Gated Transformer.

Physical and photophysical properties of starch-based biopolymer films containing 5-(4-nitrophenyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-amine (NTA) powder as a nanofiller were examined using atomic force microscopy (AFM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), stationary UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy as well as resonance light scattering (RLS) and time-resolved measurements, and where possible, analyzed with reference to pristine NTA solutions. AFM studies revealed that the addition of NTA into the starch biopolymer did not significantly affect surface roughness, with all examined films displaying similar Sq values ranging from 70.7 nm to 79.

Signaling interplay between the histamine 1 receptor (H1R) and transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily V member 1 (TRPV1) in mediating histaminergic itch has been well-established in mammalian models, but whether this is conserved in humans remains to be confirmed due to the difficulties in obtaining human sensory neurons (SNs) for experimentation. Additionally, previously reported species-specific differences in TRPV1 function indicate that use of human SNs is vital for drug candidate screening to have a higher chance of identifying clinically effective TRPV1 antagonists. In this study, we built a histamine-dependent itch model using peripheral SNs derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC-SNs), which provides an accessible source of human SNs for pre-clinical drug screening.

Background: Evidence has revealed that oestrogen deprivation-induced osteolysis is microbiota-dependent and can be treated by probiotics. However, the underlying mechanism require further investigation. This study aims to provide additional evidence supporting the use of probiotics as an adjuvant treatment and to explore the pathophysiology of oestrogen-deprived osteolysis.
