Nano-sized vesicles are ubiquitous in vegetables, fruits, and other edible plants. We have successfully prepared nanovesicles (NVs) from over 150 edible plants. These results suggest that the daily intake of NVs from various foods and their roles in food function are promising novel approaches for explaining the health-promoting properties of edible plants. These vesicles contain RNAs, including miRNAs, similar to extracellular NVs, which play pivotal roles in cell-cell communication. Intriguingly, NVs also contain phytochemicals such as polyphenols and carotenoids that are specific to each edible plant. In conclusion, these dietary NVs have the potential to serve as functional packages to deliver RNAs or phytochemicals to target cells across species from plants to humans.

Sativene-related sesquiterpenoids including -sativene analogs are a large member of fungal secondary metabolites with phytotoxic and growth-promoting effects on different plants. In this report, a series of sativene-related sesquiterpenoids with diverse carbon skeletons (-, sativene/isosativene/-sativene/cyclosativene/-isosativene ring systems) were isolated from the plant pathogenic fungus based on a molecular networking strategy. Objective: In some regions of the globe, accidental food confusion regarding plants can cause severe poisoning events and deaths. The aim of this study was to report on those confusions from the Marseille Poison Control Centre's (PCC) experience from 2002 to 2023.
Results: Over 22 years, 2197 food confusion events were managed with 321 different species.
