Young people aged 18-29 are considered "adult" within the Australian HIV health service context. However, evidence increasingly defines this age group as distinct from the broader adult population such that the needs of young people living with HIV may be overlooked in the context of HIV service design and delivery. This analysis draws on the Young + Positive study, a national study in Australia that documented the perspectives of young people (aged 18-29) living with HIV. Data were collected via survey (n = 60) and interview (n = 25) methods between 2018 and 2019. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis, exploring the inner- and outer-world factors influencing participant engagement with HIV care and support. Using the multi-dimensional framework by Harms [2021. Understanding human development (3rd ed.). Oxford University Press], we found that both inner- and outer-world factors influenced participants' ability and motivations to engage with specialist HIV treatment and support. Inner-world factors included psychological outlook, and perceptions of HIV and HIV services. Outer-world factors included workforce competencies of service providers, physical space of the service and hours of service operation. These research findings confirm that opportunities exist to better meet the treatment and care needs of young people living with HIV.

A 35-year-old woman presented with a progressive 3-year history of personality changes and gait impairment. Neurologic examination revealed bilateral optic atrophy, spastic paraparesis, and impaired vibratory sensation in all limbs, and neuropsychological evaluation identified a frontotemporal cognitive impairment. In this article, we review the differential diagnosis for a young woman with chronic frontotemporal dysfunction, optic atrophy, and dorsolateral myelopathy in a stepwise multidisciplinary approach.

Early detection of focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) using brain MRI in young children presenting with drug-resistant epilepsy may facilitate prompt surgical treatment, resulting in better control of seizures and decreased associated cognitive difficulties. Characteristics of FCD described in the literature are predominantly based on MRI findings in a fully myelinated brain; therefore, changes occurring during early brain maturation are not well known. In this case report, we describe distinct MRI features of a FCD visualized best before completion of myelination of the cortex and subcortical white matter.

Objectives: We implemented the first national patient experience survey, with novel patient-reported experience measures (PREMs), in out- and inpatient mental health and substance use services in Finland.
Methods: The Outpatient Experience Scale (OPES) and the Inpatient Experience Scale (IPES) were co-designed with experts by experience and professionals. The survey was carried out in 2021 in 435 treatment facilities.
