Background: Cellulitis is an acute bacterial infection of the skin and subcutaneous tissue. The characteristic symptoms of the disease are an area of skin that is swollen, warmth, redness, pain, unknown borderline, tends to expand, and can lead to tissue necrosis. Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) is a non-drug treatment, which has the effect of relieving pain, reducing edema, and accelerating the wound healing process for patients with cellulitis.

Patients undergoing autologous stem cell transplantation (auto-SCT) face elevated risks of infections. Additionally, patients colonized in the gastrointestinal tract with antibiotic-resistant bacteria (ARB) are at higher risk of infection with ARB and other infections. Therefore, patients colonized with ARB before auto-SCT should present with an exceptionally high incidence of infections.

Objectives: To investigate the efficacy and safety of prolonged azithromycin (PAZM) versus switching to doxycycline (SDXC) in the treatment of macrolide-unresponsive pneumonia (MUMPP) in children.

Methods: A total of 173 children with MUMPP who were hospitalized in Baoji Central Hospital, from January to December 2023 were selected as subjects. According to the choice of secondary antibiotic after 72 hours of initial macrolide therapy, they were divided into two groups: PAZM and SDXC.
