Abutment contours, position, tissue thickness, and volume are all key parameters for the successful restoration of implants in the aesthetic zone. This is particularly true for patients with high smile lines and high aesthetic expectations. This narrative review will provide a synopsis of the known science of implant abutments and peri-implant tissues in this area and cover specialised techniques, materials, and protocols to improve outcomes with increased predictability. Special attention will be given to the use of provisionals and custom healing abutments for the preservation and shaping of the peri-implant tissues.

Modern dentistry is turning towards natural sources to overcome the immunological, toxicological, aesthetic, and durability drawbacks of synthetic materials. Among the first biomaterials used as endosseous dental implants, mollusk shells also display unique features, such as high mechanical strength, superior toughness, hierarchical architecture, and layered, microporous structure. This review focusses on hydroxyapatite-a bioactive, osteoconductive, calcium-based material crucial for bone healing and regeneration.

Full-arch zirconia restorations on implants have gained popularity due to zirconia's strength and aesthetics, yet they are still associated with challenges like structural fractures, peri-implant complications, and design misfits. Advances in CAD/CAM and digital workflows offer potential improvements, but a technique that consistently addresses these issues in fixed, full-arch, implant-supported prostheses is needed. This novel technique integrates a facially and prosthetically driven treatment approach, which is divided into three phases: data acquisition, restoration design, and manufacturing/delivery.

Background: Esthetically pleasing, bright teeth and a symmetrical dental arch are of great importance. There are only a few scientific studies that compare the evaluation of anterior restorations by experts and patients. Additionally, there are hardly any studies that deal with the weighting of esthetic parameters.

Currently, the restoration of missing teeth by means of dental implants is a common treatment method in dentistry. Ensuring optimal contact between teeth (occlusion) when designing the occlusal surface of an implant-supported crown is crucial for the patient. Although there are various occlusal concepts and guidelines for achieving optimised occlusion, adapting an occlusal surface is challenging.
