Advance care planning(ACP)was officially incorporated into Japan's healthcare system in 2018 with the revision of the "Guidelines for the Decision-Making Process in End-of-Life Care"by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. This revision mandated that the government designated cancer hospitals and comprehensive community care wards establish systems for implementing ACP. Consequently, the implementation and promotion of ACP have become significant issues in the healthcare field. When conducting ACP, 3 essential points must be considered: 1)the process must be entirely based on the patient's autonomous will; 2)discussions regarding treatment and care goals should be prioritized; and 3)to prepare for potential declines in the patient's decision-making capacity, it is crucial to involve trusted family members or other individuals in these discussions.

Aim: Postoperative delirium (POD) is a common complication with significant adverse effects in elderly patients. Electroencephalography (EEG) provides a promising approach for predicting the risk of POD. This study aims to elucidate the correlation between intraoperative EEG spectrum and the incidence of POD in elderly patients undergoing orthopedic surgery.
Aim: Anorectal diseases, often requiring surgical intervention and careful post-operative wound management, pose substantial challenges in healthcare. This study presents a novel application of artificial intelligence, specifically machine learning, aimed at improving the classification and analysis of post-surgical wound images. By doing so, it seeks to enhance patient outcomes through personalized and optimized wound care strategies.

Thoracic SMARCA4-deficient undifferentiated tumors (SMARCA4-UTs), recently recognized as a rare malignancy described in the 5th edition of the World Health Organization Classification of Tumors, are characterized by an inactivating mutation in SMARCA4, most commonly found in the mediastinum of male smokers. Despite the aggressive nature and poor prognosis associated with these tumors, which have a median survival time of approximately 4-7 months, no standardized treatment guidelines are currently established. There are currently no reported cases of extended progression-free survival (PFS) in SMARCA4-UT patients treated with surgery and immunotherapy.
Salivaomics has emerged as a ground-breaking field in the detection and management of oral cancer (OC), offering a non-invasive, efficient, and patient-friendly alternative to traditional diagnostic methods. This innovative approach leverages the comprehensive molecular insights provided by genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and microbiomics. The potential of salivaomics lies in its ability to enable early detection, predict malignant transformation, and monitor treatment outcomes and disease recurrence.
