Interactions among proteins are fundamental in driving functions and activities that regulate cell biology, mechanotransduction, and cell-to-cell communication/recognition. Recently, cross-linking mass spectrometry (XL-MS) has emerged as a powerful tool for interaction discovery and characterization, driving the enlightenment of novel binding partners otherwise undetected. Covalent linkages of two amino acid residues of proteins (or within complexes) in close proximity can be identified by MS, thus providing structural insights such as distance restraints or unraveling interaction dynamics. The XL-MS workflow described here is applied to map the plasma membrane protein (PMP) networks since they play important roles in the modulation of diverse molecular processes, including transport, signal transduction, endocytosis, and secretion. The strategy includes cross-linking of PMP-enriched fractions, label-free nanoLC-MS/MS, and bioinformatics data analysis. "Membranome" interconnections constitute around 30% of the mammalian proteome and 60% of all drug targets. Exploring such networks under different biological conditions is a promising and unbiased approach to depicting regulatory pathways that govern cell behavior.

Marine sulfated polysaccharides constitute a class of bioactive polymers commonly found in cell walls of macroalgae. Among these macromolecular substances, fucoidans, ulvans, and carrageenans have attracted considerable attention providing interesting therapeutic properties affected by a combination of various structural factors, such as sulfation pattern, molecular weight, monosaccharide composition, and glycosidic linkages. Remarkably, chemical modification, enzymatic hydrolysis and crosslinking are promising approaches for developing the application of these polysaccharides through enhancement and/or addition of new biological properties.

The development of eco-friendly wood adhesives have gained more interest among adhesives industries due to the concerns about using carcinogenic formaldehyde and petroleum-based phenol in commercially available adhesives. Therefore, many studies have been done by using lignin to partially replace phenol and completely substitute formaldehyde with non-toxic glyoxal in a wood adhesive formulation. This study focused on using different percentages of lignin substitution (10 %, 30 % and 50 wt%) of alkaline and organosolv coconut husk lignin into soda lignin-phenol-glyoxal (SLPG), Kraft lignin-phenol-glyoxal (KLPG) and organosolv lignin-phenol-glyoxal (OLPG) adhesives.

We provided an efficient method for preparing fluorescent materials with high specificity. Firstly, the cellulose-based aggregations with adjustable morphologies and sizes were obtained by cross-linking copolymerization and self-assembly. Then, after encapsulating the fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) into the hydrophobic microregions of the cellulose-based aggregations by ultrasound/dialysis method, a series of cellulose-based fluorescent aggregations with different morphologies was obtained.

Transition metal oxides (TMOs) can accelerate the sluggish kinetics of vanadium redox reaction, but face challenges like limited active sites and difficulties in nanometerization, highlighting the urgent need for new TMO electrocatalysts for vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB). CoMoO features high electrochemical activity, numerous redox sites, flexible control, and short electron pathways. Herein, a high catalytic and super stable graphite felt electrode modified in situ with network cross-linking CoMoO nanosheets (CoMoO@GF) was prepared via hydrothermal and heat treatment method to enhance VRFB performance.
