Heavy metal wastewater is a direct threat to the ecological environment and human health because it is highly toxic at low concentrations. Therefore, it is very important to explore and develop efficient wastewater treatment agents. MnFeO-loaded bamboo pulp carbon-based aerogel (MCA) is prepared by directional freeze-drying and carbonization. SEM, TEM, XPS, XRD, BET and FTIR are used to evaluate the physical and chemical properties of MCA. Meanwhile, the adsorption performances of MCA on Pb, Cu and Cd are also studied by adsorption kinetics, isothermal curves and thermodynamics. The results show that the adsorption process involves chemical adsorption and physical adsorption, and the adsorption process is a spontaneous endothermic process. The maximum adsorption capacities of MCA for Pb, Cu and Cd obtained in the adsorption isotherm experiments were 74.38, 84.21 and 73.63 mg g, respectively, showing excellent adsorption performance for Pb, Cu and Cd. Therefore, the MCA has potential application for wastewater purification of heavy metals containing Pb, Cu and Cd, meanwhile, this study provides some guidance for the design and application of microspheres for the separation and removal of Pb, Cu and Cd.

The behavior of single linear chains on a substrate is a well-studied area of polymer science. Herein, one of the most essential issues is the interaction of the chains with the substrate, which determines both macromolecular conformations near the substrate and adhesive properties of polymer materials. However, very little is known about the effect of macromolecular architecture on adhesion.

Carbon capture and storage (CCS) from dilute sources is an important strategy for stabilizing the concentration of atmospheric carbon dioxide and global temperature. However, the adsorption process is extremely challenging due to the sluggish diffusion rate of dilute CO. Herein, -phthalic acid (PTA)-derived hierarchical porous activated carbon (PTA-C) with abundant micro- and mesopores was successfully prepared for dilute CO (2 vol %) capture at ambient conditions.

Pentose oxidation and reduction, processes yielding value-added sugar-derived acids and alcohols, typically involve separate procedures necessitating distinct reaction conditions. In this study, a novel one-pot reaction for the concurrent production of xylonic acid and xylitol from xylose is proposed. This reaction was executed at ambient temperature in the presence of a base, eliminating the need for external gases, by leveraging Pt-supported catalysts.

Purpose: Nanoparticles are highly efficient vectors for ferrying contrast agents across cell membranes, enabling ultra-sensitive in vivo tracking of single cells with positron emission tomography (PET). However, this approach must be fully characterized and understood before it can be reliably implemented for routine applications.
Methods: We developed a Langmuir adsorption model that accurately describes the process of labeling mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNP) with Ga.

Currently, the main limitations of Pd-coated Nb-TiFe dual-phase alloys include insufficient hydrogen permeability, susceptibility to hydrogen embrittlement (HE), and poor tolerance of HS poisoning. To address these issues, this study proposes a series of improvements. First, a novel NbTiFe alloy composed of a well-aligned Nb-TiFe eutectic was successfully prepared using directional solidification (DS) technology.
