The development of a continuous flow approach for the generation of alkynes from isoxazolones under diazotisation conditions is reported. The underlying transformation has been known for several decades; however, in batch mode, it is plagued by variable yields, excessive use of sodium nitrite and limited scalability due to its exothermic nature and the release of copious amounts of toxic nitroxide gases. The presented flow approach overcomes these limitations and delivers various alkyne products in residence times of less than 1 minute with productivities of 2 g h. This demonstrates the value of continuous flow processing in miniaturised devices and renders this alkyne forming method an attractive addition to the limited synthetic toolbox towards this important functional group.

Purpose: This systematic review aimed to assess the updated literature for the prevention of salivary gland hypofunction and xerostomia induced by non-surgical cancer therapies.
Methods: Electronic databases of MEDLINE/PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library were searched for randomized controlled trials (RCT) that investigated interventions to prevent salivary gland hypofunction and/or xerostomia. Literature search began from the 2010 systematic review publications from the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer/International Society of Oral Oncology (MASCC/ISOO) up to February 2024.

Due to their high developmental diversity and different regulatory and functional roles, B cell subpopulations can promote or inhibit tumor growth. An orthotopic murine HNSCC model was applied to investigate the B cell composition and function in HNSCCs. Using flow cytometry approaches, cells from the spleen, lymph nodes and tumors were analyzed.

Background: Esophageal atresia is one of the most common life-threatening congenital malformations and is defined as an interruption in the continuity of the esophagus with or without fistula to the trachea or bronchi. Definitive treatment is surgical ligation of the fistula if present and esophageal end-to-end anastomosis of the two pouches, thereby reconstructing the continuity of the esophagus. During this procedure, the surgeon may choose to either ligate or preserve the azygos vein, a major draining vein for the esophagus and surrounding structures, but no definitive consensus on the matter exists.

Over the past decade, the continuous development of ancient genomic technology and research has significantly advanced our understanding of human history. Since 2017, large-scale studies of ancient human genomes in East Asia, particularly in China, have emerged, resulting in a wealth of ancient genomic data from various time periods and locations, which has provided new insights into the genetic history of East Asian populations over tens of thousands of years. Especially since 2022, there emerged a series of new research progresses in the genetic histories of the northern and southern Chinese populations within the past 10,000 years.

Background: Continuous retrograde flow across the aortic valve from left ventricular assist device (LVAD) therapy can result in cusp damage and progressive aortic regurgitation, potentially triggering recurrent heart and multiorgan failure. The management of aortic regurgitation after LVAD implantation has not been well defined.
Methods: This study retrospectively reviewed the investigators' experience with the management of de novo aortic regurgitation requiring intervention in patients with continuous-flow LVAD.
