"Solid-liquid excipients" co-production is one of the typical processing methods of excipients used from ancient times to the present day, and is widely applied in various processing schools and regional specialty varieties. This method significantly reduces the toxicity of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM), moderates medicinal properties, and enhances clinical efficacy. However, modern scientific research has given it limited attention, and many co-production methods of "solid-liquid excipients" have not been applied in production and practice. This paper reviewed the historical development of "solid-liquid excipients" co-production, outlined modern processing standards and methods in different processing schools, and further elaborated on the purposes and effects of this co-production method. This study is expected to provide references and evidence for further in-depth research, inheritance, innovation, and practical application.

Designing type V deep eutectic solvents with antimalarial pharmaceutical ingredients.

This work studies the formation of deep eutectic solvents formed by one active pharmaceutical ingredient (quinine, pyrimethamine, or 2-phenylimidazopyridine) and a second component potentially acting as an excipient (betaine, choline chloride, tetramethylammonium chloride, thymol, menthol, gallic acid, vanillin, acetovanillone, 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde, syringaldehyde, propyl gallate, propylparaben, or butylated hydroxyanisole), aiming to address challenges regarding drug solubility, bioavailability, and permeability. A preliminary screening was carried out using the thermodynamic model COSMO-RS, narrowing down the search to three promising excipients (thymol, propyl gallate, and butylated hydroxyanisole). Nine solid-liquid equilibrium (SLE) phase diagrams were experimentally measured combining the three model drugs with the screened excipients, and using a combination of a visual melting method and differential scanning calorimetry.

Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) encounter numerous interfaces during manufacturing, storage, and administration. While protein adsorption at the solid/liquid interface has been widely explored on model surfaces, a key challenge remains - the detection of very small amounts of adsorbed mAb directly on real medical surfaces. This study introduces a novel ELISA-based device, ELIBAG, a new tool for measuring mAb adsorption on medical bags.

Pea peptides can lead to degradation through oxidation, deamidation, hydrolysis, or cyclization during production, processing, and storage, which in turn limit their broader application. To stabilize pea peptides, this study employed spray drying technology to create a pea peptide micro-encapsule using maltodextrin, gum tragacanth, and pea peptides. Four key factors, including polysaccharide ratio, glycopeptide ratio, solid-liquid ratio, and inlet temperature, were optimized to enhance the antioxidant properties of the pea peptide micro-encapsule.
