Acute lung injury (ALI) is a severe inflammatory condition of the respiratory system, associated with high morbidity and mortality. This study investigates the therapeutic potential of tocilizumab (TZ), an IL-6 receptor inhibitor, in mitigating lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced ALI by modulating the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (AKT) pathway. An ALI model was established using LPS induction.

Background: Ferroptosis was involved in the pathogenesis of intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD). However, the exact mechanism of IVDD associated with ferroptosis still required deeper studies.
Method: The differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in rat lumbar disc tissue between the control and IVDD group treated with IL-1β were detected by RNA sequencing (RNA-seq).

Klebsiella pneumoniae is an opportunistic pathogen responsible for various infections in humans and animals. It is known for its resistance to multiple antibiotics, particularly through the production of Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamases (ESBLs), and its ability to form biofilms that further complicate treatment. This study aimed to isolate and identify K.

Despite their global distribution and commercial value, little is known about their movement ecology and its role in the co-existence of sympatric mullet species. Gaps in knowledge about migratory behaviour, seasonal occurrence, and movement scales have also impeded effective management, highlighting the need for further research.

The phosphoinositide family of membrane lipids play diverse and critical roles in eukaryotic molecular biology. Much of this biological activity derives from interactions of phosphoinositide lipids with integral and peripheral membrane proteins, leading to modulation of protein structure, function, and cellular distribution. Since the discovery of phosphoinositides in the 1940s, combined molecular biology, biophysical, and structural approaches have made enormous progress in untangling this vast and diverse cellular network of interactions.
