This paper describes the potential of carbon dot nanocomposites (CDs) synthesized from waste materials by top-down and bottom-up state-of-the-art approaches. Through sustainable practices, wastes are converted into valuable nanomaterials, solving environmental problems and pioneering advances in nanotechnology. In this paper, an overview of the synthesis aspects of CDs is presented with the formation of their versatile nanocomposites and metal/metal oxide elements. The phase of this paper has been devoted to elaborate study of the multifaceted applications of CDs in various sectors, ranging from electronics and biomedicine to environmental remediation. Although having huge potential, CDs application is presently hampered due to limitations on scalability, stability, and reproducibility. In this review paper, most profound insights have been drawn into overcoming these barriers for clear routes toward future innovations. The present research being undertaken in this area has, therefore, underscored sustainable nanotechnology to resolve global problems and achieving technological development through green synthesis. Necessitating the efficient sewage disposal systems ensuring minimum toxin generation.

Rice is a crucial staple food for over half the global population, and viral infections pose significant threats to rice yields. This study focuses on the Rice Stripe Virus (RSV), which is known to drastically reduce rice productivity. We employed RNA-seq and ribosome profiling to analyze the transcriptional and translational responses of RSV-infected rice seedlings.

The mechanisms of the innate immunity control of equine infectious anemia virus in horses are not yet widely described. Equine monocytes isolated from the peripheral blood of three Equine infectious anemia (EIA) seronegative horses were differentiated in vitro into macrophages that gave rise to mixed cell populations morphologically referable to M1 and M2 phenotypes. The addition of two equine recombinant cytokines and two EIA virus reference strains, Miami and Wyoming, induced a more specific cell differentiation, and as for other species, IFNγ and IL4 stimulation polarized horse macrophages respectively towards the M1 and the M2 phenotypes.

The sensitivity of positron annihilation characteristics to changes in the molecular packing in network-forming polymers has been demonstrated since the early 1980s. Positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PALS) is a unique technique that can provide direct information on the free volume in polymers through the experimental parameters of the free volume hole distribution, their mean value, and volume fraction. This knowledge is currently applied for PALS investigations on the main processes that govern the molecular organization in some green polymers when subjected to different synthesis procedures or environmental conditions (humidity, physical aging, temperature).

Recent advancements in polymer materials have enabled the synthesis of bio-based monomers from renewable resources, promoting sustainable alternatives to fossil-based materials. This study presents a novel zwitterionic surfactant, SF, derived from 10-undecenoic acid obtained from castor oil through a four-step reaction, achieving a yield of 78%. SF has a critical micelle concentration (CMC) of 1235 mg/L, slightly higher than the commercial anionic surfactant Rhodacal DS-4 (sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate), and effectively stabilizes monomer droplets, leading to excellent conversion and stable latex formation.
