AI Article Synopsis

  • Flowering time in rapeseed is important for yield, oil quality, and plant maturity, driving research into its genetic regulation.
  • A genome-wide association study identified 46 haplotype regions related to flowering time, with 28 overlapping known quantitative trait loci.
  • Key genes (-A02, -A10, -A09) showed variations linked to flowering time, and co-expression analysis revealed connections with various flowering pathway genes, suggesting a complex regulatory network for breeding early maturing rapeseed varieties.

Article Abstract

Unlabelled: Flowering time is a crucial determinant of both the yield and oil quality of rapeseed as well as a key indicator of plant maturity. We performed a genome-wide association study and transcriptome analysis to identify key genes/loci regulating flowering time in L. Forty-six haplotype regions harboring candidate genes were determined to be significantly associated with flowering time, and 28 of these haplotype regions overlapped with previously reported quantitative trait loci. A further investigation of these haplotype regions revealed nucleotide variations in the genes -A02, -A10, and -A09 that correlated with phenotypic variations in flowering time. Furthermore, the co-expression network analysis indicated that -A02 is directly linked to -A10 and -A09, in a subnetwork and also associated with 13 vernalization, 31 photoperiod, 33 autonomous pathway, and 10 gibberellin pathway genes, forming a potential network regulating flowering time in rapeseed. These results provide valuable haplotype markers for the breeding of early maturing rapeseed varieties.

Background: Salinity stress is a significant challenge in agriculture, particularly in regions where soil salinity is increasing due to factors such as irrigation practices and climate change. This stress adversely affects plant growth, development, and yield, posing a threat to the cultivation of economically important plants like . This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness by proactively applying indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) to cuttings as a practical and efficient method for mitigating the adverse effects of salinity stress.

The approaches used to determine the medicinal properties of the plants are often destructive, labor-intensive, time-consuming, and expensive, making it impossible to analyze their quality analysis online. Performance of hyperspectral imaging (HSI) integrated with intelligent techniques to overcome these problems was investigated in this research. For this purpose, three classification methods-support vector machine, random forest (RF), and extreme gradient boosting-were studied for the classification of plants in three classes of medicinal, edible, and ornamental for the organs of leaf, stem, flower, and root.
