Introduction: Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global problem and is especially threatening for low-and-middle income countries like Bangladesh. The COSTAR (Community-led Solutions to Antimicrobial Resistance) project includes a Randomised Control Trial (RCT) which aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Community Dialog Approach (CDA) to improve levels of correct and appropriate knowledge and reported practice about antibiotics, antibiotic use, and antibiotic resistance (ABR) from a One Health perspective, among adult community members in 5 selected sub-districts of Cumilla. The CDA is a community engagement approach involving community members in active discussions also known as Community Dialogs (CD), run by local facilitators.

The New Paradigm of Ligand Substitution-Driven Enhancement of Anisotropy from SO Units in Short-Wavelength Region.

ACS Cent Sci

December 2024

Research Center for Crystal Materials, State Key Laboratory of Functional Materials and Devices for Special Environmental Conditions, Xinjiang Key Laboratory of Functional Crystal Materials, Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, CAS, 40-1 South Beijing Road, Urumqi 830011, China.

For non-π-conjugated [SO] units, it is challenging to generate sufficient birefringence, owing to the high symmetry of the regular tetrahedron. Unlike the traditional trial-and-error approach, we propose a new paradigm for birefringence engineering to tune the optical properties based on [SO] units. Through the strategy of ligand substitution, we can predict its effect on the band gap and anisotropy.

Africa and Arabia encompass a much greater species diversity in the aggregate (Amaranthaceae, achyranthoid clade): Evidence from morphological and chorological data.

The Mauritius Herbarium, RE Vaughan Building, Agricultural Services, Ministry of Agro-Industry and Food Security, Réduit, 80835, Mauritius.

in its traditional sense (excluding that phylogenetically falls into ) has been considered to contain a restricted (three to four) number of species in Africa and one or two species in the Arabian Peninsula. The morphology of the type species of the genus, , has been treated as highly polymorphic, with several varieties recognised by various authors. Not surprisingly, a recent extended phylogeny revealed a non-monophyly of .

(1) Background: External force orthopedics and the strengthening of paraspinal muscles through exercise are common orthopedic methods for adolescent scoliosis, yet the synergetic mechanism of the two in orthopedic correction remains unclear. (2) Methods: A three-dimensional finite element model of the scoliotic spine was established to accurately simulate the mechanical properties of tissues such as the spine, intervertebral discs, and ribs. By applying external forces in different directions to the scoliosis model, the orthopedic effects of these forces on scoliosis were analyzed.

An improved practical Byzantine fault tolerance algorithm for aggregating node preferences.

Sci Rep

December 2024

School of Information Engineering, Yangzhou University, Yangzhou, Jiangsu, China.

Consensus algorithms play a critical role in maintaining the consistency of blockchain data, directly affecting the system's security and stability, and are used to determine the binary consensus of whether proposals are correct. With the development of blockchain-related technologies, social choice issues such as Bitcoin scaling and main chain forks, as well as the proliferation of decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) applications based on blockchain technology, require consensus algorithms to reach consensus on a specific proposal among multiple proposals based on node preferences, thereby addressing the multi-value consensus problem. However, existing consensus algorithms, including Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (PBFT), do not support nodes expressing preferences.
