AI Article Synopsis

  • This text discusses a new geometric method for dental planning that can be done in the office.
  • It enables the use of linear measurements and angle corrections to improve accuracy in treatment.
  • Additionally, the method facilitates the creation of surgical guides, making the process for fully edentulous arch treatments easier and more efficient.

Article Abstract

A geometric approach is presented that allows in-office planning with linear and angle corrections and surgical guide fabrication, simplifying the process when treating a fully edentulous arch.

Background: The harmful impact of tobacco smoke on health is widely recognized, linking it to various diseases. However, the link between tobacco smoke and edentulism in China's population hasn't been fully investigated. This study aims to fill this gap by exploring smoking habits and the possible connection between tobacco smoke and edentulism in a nationally representative Chinese cohort.

Anatomical Measurements of the Malar Bone for Safe Zygomatic Implant Placement: A Study on Donated Bodies.

J Clin Med

November 2024

Cellular Signaling Laboratory, Anatomy Center, Department of Biomedical and Neuromotor Sciences (DIBINEM), University of Bologna, 40126 Bologna, Italy.

: The malar bone provides an anchorage point for zygomatic implants, avoiding invasive reconstructive surgeries in the fixed rehabilitation of fully edentulous and severely atrophic maxillae. The limited bone volume, however, requires precise implant placement to prevent complications related to nearby anatomical structures. This observational cross-sectional study aims to measure the malar and zygomatic arch bones and their distances from critical anatomical landmarks to guide surgeons in safe zygomatic implant placement.

Background: In recent years, advancements in digital dentistry have provided new opportunities for more predictable and efficient treatment options, particularly in patients with failing dentition. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and accuracy of a fully digital workflow using stackable surgical templates for complete dental arch rehabilitation with implant-supported fixed restorations.

Methods: Four patients, comprising two males and two females with a mean age of 66 years, were included in this case series.

Accuracy of different maxillomandibular relationship recording techniques in the edentulous maxillary arch.

J Prosthodont

November 2024

Department of Prosthodontics, Institute of Odontology, Faculty of Medicine, Digitorum Research Center, Vilnius University, Vilnius, Lithuania.

Purpose: This study investigated the effect of three digital bite registration techniques on the accuracy of intraoral scanning in maxillary edentulous and mandibular dentate arches.

Materials And Methods: Maxillary edentulous and mandible fully dentate models were created. Four dental implants were placed in the maxilla, fitted with scan bodies, and reference scans were obtained using a Nikon Altera 10.
