The onset of atherosclerosis (AS) is insidious, and early stage patients have atypical clinical symptoms. After being diagnosed in late stage, it is often prone to sudden and fatal cardiovascular events. Therefore, it is highly desirable to develop precise and efficient diagnosis and therapy strategies of AS.

Serum Levels of Stereocilin as a Hearing Biomarker.

Otolaryngol Head Neck Surg

Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) often presents with an insidious onset, resulting from the cumulative effect of chronic, high-level noise exposure regardless of etiology. Stereocilin (STRC) is a protein that supports stereocilia attachment and cochlear hair cell function, 2 common targets of noise trauma. In this study, we explored the relationship between STRC and daily noise exposure in young, healthy adults.

Membranous nephropathy is the main cause of nephrotic syndrome, which has an insidious onset and may progress to end-stage renal disease with a high mortality rate, such as renal failure and uremia. At present, the diagnosis of membranous nephropathy mainly relies on the clinical manifestations of patients and pathological examination of kidney biopsy, which are expensive, time-consuming, and have certain chance and other disadvantages. Therefore, there is an urgent need to find a rapid, accurate and non-invasive diagnostic technique for the diagnosis of membranous nephropathy.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease with insidious onset, and the deposition of amyloid-β (Aβ) is believed to be one of the main cause. Fluorescence imaging is a promising technique for this task, but the Aβ gold standard probe ThT developed based on this still has shortcomings. The development of a new fluorescent probe to detect Aβ plaques is thought to be essential.
