This study analyzed the morphological characteristics of C. brunnea adults that allow for sexual differentiation. Sensilla trichodea, spatulate setae and lanceolate setae were found on the antennae, tarsi and tibiae apex, respectively, with no difference between sexes. Females of C. brunnea have a longer and wider body, as well as a longer fifth urosternite compared to males. The shape of the fifth urosternite allows for sex differentiation in C. brunnea adults.

We analyzed the lower and upper dentition of the family Hyaenidae along its evolutionary history from a multivariate point of view. A total of 13,103 individual measurements of the lengths and widths of canines and the main post-canine teeth (lower third and fourth premolar, lower first molar, and upper second, third, and fourth premolars) were collected for 39 extinct and extant species of this family. We analyzed these measurements using principal component analyses.

In this review, is described from Leyte Island, Philippines, (Straneo, 1943) is transferred from Andrewes, and inclusion of (Jedlička, 1935) in the genus is confirmed. Characteristics of and genera that have been proposed as closely related to are discussed and a unique character, the post-ocular sulcus, shared among species of and is proposed as a synapomorphy for these two genera.

Background: Knowledge about parasitic infections is crucial information for animal health, particularly of free-ranging species that might come into contact with livestock and humans.
Methods: We investigated the seroprevalence of three tissue-cyst-forming apicomplexan parasites (Toxoplasma gondii, Neospora caninum and Besnoitia besnoiti) in 506 individuals of 12 wildlife species in Namibia using in-house enzyme linked immunosorbent assays (indirect ELISAs applying purified antigens) for screening and immunoblots as confirmatory tests. We included six species of the suborder Feliformia, four species of the suborder Caniformia and two species of the suborder Ruminantia.
