Harvesting the energy from the interaction between hygroscopic materials and atmospheric water can generate green and clean energy. However, the ion diffusion process of moisture-induced dissociation leads to the disappearance of the ion concentration gradient gradually, and there is still a lack of moisture-based power generation devices with truly continuous operation, especially the duration of the current output still needs to be extended. Here, we propose a design for reconstructing the ion concentration gradient by coupling photocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction with hydrovoltaic effect, to report a moisture-enabled electric generator (MEG) with continuous current output.

The resistance mechanism of B_P225F and B_H272R mutations in succinate dehydrogenase in Botrytis cinerea.

Int J Biol Macromol

December 2024

State Key Laboratory of Green Pesticide, International Joint Research Center for Intelligent Biosensor Technology and Health, Central China Normal University, Wuhan 430079, PR China. Electronic address:

Botrytis cinerea populations resistant to succinate dehydrogenase inhibitors (SDHIs) represent a major problem for the sustainable development of modern agriculture. In the present study, the resistance mechanism of B_P225F and B_H272R mutations in B. cinerea SDH (BcSDH) resistant to SDHIs fungicides, including boscalid (BOS), penflufen (PEN), pydiflumetofen (PYD), fluopyram (FLU), and benzovindiflupyr (BEN), was uncovered.

Tooth loss, periodontal infection and their relationship to cognitive impairment and other dementias: A review.

Neuro Endocrinol Lett

December 2024

Private Practice, Zubná Pohotovosť, s.r.o. Bratislava, Krížna 44, Slovakia.

Our review study addresses the issue of tooth loss, which is caused by loss of masticatory function and its impact on cognitive functions, dementia, and Alzheimer's disease. Numerous studies have confirmed a positive correlation between premature tooth loss, reduction in masticatory function and significant cognitive decline observed through learning disabilities, including overcoming ordinary life problems to early and advanced forms of dementia. Reduced numbers of teeth in the main food processing area, i.

We present a case of arterial bypass for extensive stenosis of the ulnar artery and superficial palmar arch. The ulnar artery and the superficial palmar arch were bypassed using the great saphenous vein. Postoperatively, blood flow to the affected fingers gradually improved and the pain disappeared.

GLP-1R/NPY2R regulate gene expression, ovarian and adrenal morphology in HFD mice.

J Endocrinol

December 2024

R Moffett, School of Biomedical Sciences, University of Ulster, Coleraine, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) and neuropeptide Y receptors (NPYRs) are expressed in reproductive tissues contributing to the regulation of gonadal function. This exploratory study examines the potential impact of their modulation by assessing effects of exendin-4 (Ex-4) and peptide YY (PYY) (3-36) on endocrine ovaries and adrenals, in high-fat diet (HFD) mice. Ex-4 and PYY(3-36) reduced blood glucose and energy intake, with no effects on body weight.
