Ion triplets of the chloride salts of two commonly used weakly coordinating cations are reported (i.e., Cl·NMeCl () and Cl·PPhCl ()). Negative ion photoelectron spectra at 20 K afford vertical and adiabatic detachment energies of 5.18 and 5.00 eV () and 5.03 and 4.70 eV (), respectively. These results are well reproduced by coupled cluster calculations with single, double, and perturbative triple excitations (CCSD(T)) whereas M06-2X is systematically too small by ∼0.3 eV (i.e., 7 kcal mol). The structures of both and have five or six C-H···Cl interactions that stabilize these cluster anions by 32 () and 27 () kcal mol as given by their chloride dissociation enthalpies. These values drop to 7.4 and 3.8 kcal mol in dichloromethane based up conductor-like polarizable continuum model calculations and suggest that X·MX ion triplets with a weakly coordinating cation maybe the reactive form of salts under some conditions.

Piperazine-based compounds have garnered significant attention due to their notable biological and pharmacological activities, making them essential in fine chemical and pharmaceutical applications. In this study, we managed to synthesize a novel hybrid bis-cyanoacrylamide bearing the piperazine core via phenoxymethyl linker and incorporating sulphamethoxazole moiety. The novel compound was fully characterized using different spectral data including 1H-NMR, C-NMR, and FTIR spectroscopy.

January 2025

Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, College of Pharmacy, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Background: Anti-angiogenesis or inhibition of blood vessel formation is the best way to prevent the growth and metastasis of tumors. Natural sources like plants are currently being explored for its antiangiogenic activity as they are factories of various phytochemicals. The goal of the current study is to investigate the antiangiogenic potential of () by using chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay and molecular docking.

Antibiotic-resistant bacteria are a serious global health threat, making infections harder to treat and increasing medical costs and mortality rates. To combat resistant bacterial strains, a series of compounds (QS1-12) were synthesized with an excellent yield of 85-92%. Initial assessments of these analogues as potential antibacterial agents were conducted through a preliminary screening against a panel of diverse bacterial strains.
