Tetanus is a disease of the nervous system caused by a toxin produced by , an anaerobe found in high concentrations in the soil. The occurrence of tetanus is related to contaminated traumatic wounds, and most patients have had some failure in their immunization. However, there are rare case reports of generalized tetanus in patients with proper vaccination schemes who failed to receive appropriate prophylaxis after high-risk exposure.

Purpose Of Review: Post-laparoscopic shoulder pain (PLSP) can slow patient recovery and extend hospital stays, making its management crucial for patients undergoing laparoscopic surgery. Current consensus guidelines say little about how to prevent or manage PLSP. In this context, a multimodal approach to PLSP management that maybe extend beyond the pharmaceutical interventions currently employed.

Background: Laparoscopic radical gastrectomy has been reported to be associated with substantial trauma and pain. This study compared the impact of ultrasound-(US)-guided, bilateral, double-injection intertransverse process block (ITPB) on postoperative analgesia with subcostal transversus abdominis plane block (TAPB) in patients who were undergoing laparoscopic radical gastrectomy.
Methods: Sixty-two patients who were undergoing laparoscopic radical gastrectomy surgery under general anesthesia were included.

Breast cancer surgeries offer challenges in perioperative pain management, especially in the presence of inherent risk of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) and postmastectomy pain syndrome (PMPS). Inappropriate opioid consumption was speculated as one of the reasons. Through this study, the influence of objective pain monitoring through a nociception level monitor (NOL) on perioperative course in breast surgeries was investigated.

Background: Obstetric lesions of the anal sphincter (OASIS) are tears intersecting the structure of the anus after vaginal delivery. Our aim is to provide data on the incidence of OASIS and investigate potentially connected risk factors.
Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of 464 parturient patients admitted to the AOU Maggiore della Carità, Novara (Italy), in the last ten years (2013-2023), comparing 116 cases (with OASIS) versus 348 controls (with no OASIS).
