Haemaphysalis (Gonixodes) mariae n. sp. (Acari: Ixodidae) is described based on males and females that were collected from leporids in the United States (Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas). Adults of this new species are similar to those of H. leporispalustris (Packard, 1869), but can be distinguished from them by the punctation pattern of the conscutum and scutum, length of the lateral grooves, length of the lateral salience of palpal segment II, shape of palpal segment III, shape and length of spur on palpal segment III, and on coxa I, as well as by measurements and their ratios.

Eleonora's falcon ( Géné, 1839) is a well-known long-distance migrant of the Afro-Palaearctic flyway, a summer breeder of the Mediterranean region and North-west Africa and a winter resident of Madagascar and surrounding areas, thus characterized as a double endemic. Within the context of a long-term monitoring and conservation programme on Antikythira Island, Greece, which accommodates one of the largest concentrations of breeding pairs of Eleonora's falcons globally, birds were subjected to regular inspections for the presence of ticks from 2017 to 2023. In total, 104 adults and 149 nymphs (all belonging to genus) were collected.

The mouth apparatus in larvae of the freshwater mite Limnochares aquatica (L., 1758) (Acariformes, Limnocharidae), belonging to the lower Hydrachnidia, was studied with light microscopy, scanning (SEM) and transmission (TEM) electron microscopy, as well as with confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) to reveal its main morphological and functional characteristics. The gnathosoma, functioning as a mouth organ takes a prognathous position, and inclines to the body axial line at the angle of around 30°.
