A new stigmaeid mite species Eustigmaeus imadae sp. nov. (Trombidiformes: Prostigmata: Stigmaeidae) is described from Japan. The species was collected from Shikoku and Honshu Islands. Insights into morphological variation among the specimens collected from different localities are provided. Eustigmaeus extremiorientalis Khaustov, 2016 originally described from Russia is recorded for the first time in Japan and is described based on specimens from the Japanese population. The number of Eustigmaeus species known in Japan has now increased to six.

An undescribed larva belonging to the family Neothrombiidae was found ectoparasitic on a Rhipicephalus sanguineus (Acari: Ixodida: Ixodidae) by Kohansal et al. (2021). The larva was collected by a sweep net from herbaceous plants in Doroh village, Sarbisheh county, South Khorasan province, Iran.

An incomplete species recognition system may cause reproductive interference. Interspecific mating between Panonychus citri and Panonychus osmanthi produced apparently normal F hybrid females. However, the F females laid few eggs, and the produced eggs did not hatch (suggesting hybrid breakdown).

The wood warbler, Phylloscopus sibilatrix (Aves: Passeriformes), is a well-known model organism for studying bird migration, breeding habitat selection and nest predation. The nest acarofauna of this bird species has not been extensively studied so far. To provide a comprehensive report on mite species inhabiting wood warbler nests and to assess infestation parameters (prevalence, intensity, and abundance) for mite species and orders, we collected 45 nests of this bird species in the Wielkopolska National Park in western Poland.

Mites (Acari) represent important parasites for a diverse range of hosts. Within the Acari, the Prostigmata represent a diverse suborder of the order Trombidiformes with about 20 000 species, including parasitic forms on both vertebrates and invertebrates. Within the Prostigmata, the genus Locustacarus (Heterostigmata: Podapolipidae) is particularly known as an intratracheal parasite of bumblebees and grasshoppers.
