We report, for the first time, a visible-light-induced cascade radical sulfamoylation and cyclization of 2-arylbenzoimidazoles using sulfamoyl chlorides as sulfamoylation reagents to access sulfamoylated benzo[4,5]imidazo[2,1-]isoquinolin-6(5)-ones. The readily available nature of sulfamoyl chlorides and the metal-free conditions make this method a promising strategy for the synthesis of these compounds.
