The reducing system of SoxR consists of a putative electron transfer system encoded by the operon, RseC encoded from the unlinked operon, and ApbE. RseC is composed of two transmembrane helices, with both the N-terminal and C-terminal domains located in the cytoplasm. The N-terminal domain has a four-cysteine motif, CXCXCXC, in the cytoplasm, with the latter three cysteines highly conserved in RseC homologs, allowing the SoxR reducer complex to function in . These three cysteines can form an oxygen-sensitive Fe-S cluster when only the N-terminal domain is expressed in a truncated form. Without the C-terminal domain, RseC shows no significant difference in interaction with the SoxR reducer complex, but its ability to complement the function of an mutant is greatly reduced. Additionally, the mutant exhibits weak resistance to cumene hydrogen peroxide in the stationary phase and increased sensitivity to hydrogen peroxide in the exponential phase, independent of the SoxR regulon. This suggests that the full-length sequence of RseC is essential for its function and that it may have SoxR-independent additional roles.

Background: Osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) is a challenging condition, primarily affecting young and middle-aged individuals, which results in hip dysfunction and, ultimately, femoral head collapse. However, the comparative effectiveness of joint-preserving procedures, particularly in the early stages of ONFH (ARCO stage I or II), remains inconclusive. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of a novel technique called small-diameter core decompression (CD) combined with platelet-rich plasma (PRP), for the treatment of early-stage ONFH.

Background: Understanding the risk factors of hypertension among women of reproductive age (18-44 years) is important for guiding health programs aimed at reducing the burden of hypertensive disorders in this population. Therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate predictors of self-reported hypertension among women of reproductive age in North Dakota.
Methods: Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System data for the years 2017, 2019, and 2021 were obtained from North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services.

Background: Family income to poverty ratio (PIR) may have independent effects on diet and lifestyle factors and the development of prediabetes and diabetes, as well as on mortality. It is unclear how the protective effect of a healthy lifestyle against death differs between individuals with different glucose metabolic profiles and whether PIR mediates this effect. This study aimed to explore whether healthy lifestyle and family PIR reduced the risk of all-cause mortality in participants with different metabolic status and the mediating role of PIR.
