Background: Whole genome resequencing (WGRS) platforms provide exceptional fingerprinting of the entire genome but are expensive and less flexible to use as a routine genotyping tool for targeting causal polymorphisms within a germplasm collection or breeding program. Therefore, there has been a continuous effort to develop small-scale genotyping platforms that facilitate robust and quick assessments of the allelic status of causal variants for important traits within soybean breeding programs. The objective was to develop a comprehensive panel of soybean cyst nematode (SCN) resistance TaqMan assays via selecting the causative genes and analyzing their associated alleles.
Methods: The Soybean Allele Catalog was utilized to investigate WGRS-derived variants which are predicted to cause a change in the amino acid sequence of a gene product. This panel of TaqMan assays reflects current knowledge about known SCN resistance-causing genes and their associated alleles: GmSNAP18-a and -b, GmSNAP11, GmSHMT08, GmSNAP15, GmNSF, and GmSNAP02-ins and -del. Developed assays were tested using elite breeding lines and segregating populations. TaqMan assays were compared to other currently available KASP and CAPS assays.
Conclusion: All assays showed excellent allele determination efficiencies. This SCN genotyping assay panel can be utilized as a simplified, accurate and reliable genotyping platform further equipping the updated soybean breeding toolbox.

Introduction: Schistosomiasis (Bilharzia), a neglected tropical disease caused by parasites, afflicts over 240 million people globally, disproportionately impacting Sub-Saharan Africa. Current diagnostic tests, despite their utility, suffer from limitations like low sensitivity. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) remain the most common and sensitive nucleic acid amplification tests.

Background: Conflicting findings exist regarding the association between maternal serum zinc and neonatal birth weight. This study aimed to explore the association between maternal serum zinc and birth weight, and whether this association was modified by neonatal SOD2 polymorphism and promoter methylation.
Methods: We recruited 464 mother-newborn pairs at Houzhai Center Hospital from January 2010 to January 2012.

Enteropathogens are major contributors to mortality and morbidity, particularly in settings with limited access to water, sanitation, and hygiene infrastructure. To assess transmission pathways associated with enteropathogen infection, we measured household environmental conditions and assayed 22 enteropathogens using TaqMan Array Cards in stool samples from 276 six-month-old children living in communities along a rural-urban gradient in Northern Ecuador. We utilized multivariable models, risk factor importance, and distance-based statistical methods to test factors associated with infection.

Background And Aims: Mounting evidence have implicated that rs1801131 and rs1801133, located in the Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene, may emerge as novel biomarkers for coronary artery disease (CAD). The Synergy between Percutaneous Coronary Intervention with Taxus and Cardiac Surgery (SYNTAX) score is also an appropriate predictor for revascularization strategy in patients with complex CAD. The aim of this study is to investigate the correlation between rs1801131 and rs1801133 with the severity of coronary lesions in patients with ST‑Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) and Non‑ST‑Elevation Myocardial Infarction (NSTEMI) based on the SYNTAX score.

Adenoviruses are a concern for pigeon breeders due to their impact on animal health. Furthermore, they have been studied for nearly five decades and are one of the most studied viruses in pigeons. However, the number of complete genomic sequences of pigeon-infecting adenoviruses available is very low, and the pathogenic effect of these viruses on pigeons is still yet to be thoroughly explored.
