Purpose: Anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) is increasingly being used to complement slit-lamp biomicroscopy in the evaluation of corneal infections. Our purpose was to analyze, compare, and correlate the clinical signs elicited by these 2 methods in patients with infectious keratitis (IK).

Methods: Slit-lamp photomicrographs (diffuse and slit beam) and AS-OCT scans were obtained from 20 consecutive patients (21 eyes) with IK.

Purpose: Ocular cysticercosis, caused by larvae, presents significant public health challenges, especially in regions with poor sanitation. Traditional imaging techniques often fail to detect anterior segment cysticercosis accurately, necessitating the exploration of more advanced diagnostic modalities like Ultrasound Biomicroscopy (UBM).

Patients And Methods: A retrospective observational analysis was conducted on 18 eyes from 14 patients with cysticercosis involving the anterior segment.

Over the past decades, fundamental insights have been gained to establish the pivotal role of imaging in the diagnosis of large-vessel vasculitis, including giant cell arteritis (GCA) and Takayasu's arteritis (TAK). A deeper comprehension of imaging modalities has prompted earlier diagnosis leading to expedited treatment for better prognosis. The European Alliance of Associations in Rheumatology (EULAR) recommended in 2023 that ultrasound should be the initial imaging test in suspected GCA, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) remains the first-line imaging modality in suspected TAK.

Article Synopsis
  • Keratoconus (KC) is a progressive eye disorder affecting the cornea, with genetic factors influencing its development, as highlighted in a study of monozygotic twins from a Chinese family.
  • Comprehensive eye exams and whole-genome sequencing were conducted to identify clinical features and genetic variants in the twins and their parents, revealing 12 potential pathogenic variants related to KC.
  • The findings suggest that the accumulation of these genetic variants may be responsible for the twins' KC, contributing to a broader understanding of the genetic landscape of

Purpose: To identify risk factors and perioperative complications and assess postoperative visual outcome in patients of white mature cataracts undergoing phacoemulsification surgery.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 46 patients of white mature cataract undergoing phacoemulsification. Preoperatively, a detailed ocular examination was done, and anterior chamber depth (ACD) and lens thickness (LT) were measured on ultrasound biomicroscopy.
