Arabidopsis CIRP1 E3 ligase modulates drought and oxidative stress tolerance and reactive oxygen species homeostasis by directly degrading catalases.

J Integr Plant Biol

January 2025

Key Laboratory of National Forestry and Grassland Administration on Plant Conservation and Utilization in Southern China & Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Applied Botany, South China Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guangzhou, 510650, China.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) plays critical roles in modulating plant growth and stress response and its homeostasis is fine tuned using multiple peroxidases. HO, a major kind of ROS, is removed rapidly and directly using three catalases, CAT1, CAT2, and CAT3, in Arabidopsis. Although the activity regulations of catalases have been well studied, their degradation pathway is less clear.

The protection of steel based on microbial biomineralization has emerged as a novel and eco-friendly strategy for corrosion control. However, the molecular basis of the biomineralization process in mineralization bacteria remains largely unexplored. We previously reported that EPS+ strain provides protection against steel corrosion by forming a hybrid biomineralization film.

Resonances in Low-Energy Electron Collisions with Salicylic Acid.

J Phys Chem A

January 2025

Departamento de Física, Universidade Federal do Paraná, Caixa Postal 19044, 81531-980 Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil.

In this work, we report elastic integral, differential, and momentum-transfer cross sections for the scattering of low-energy electrons by salicylic acid. The cross sections were calculated with the Schwinger multichannel method implemented with norm-conserving pseudopotential within the static-exchange and static-exchange plus polarization (SEP) approximations for energies up to 15 eV. In the SEP approximation, four π* resonances were found at around 0.

The evolution of sociality is one of the major evolutionary transitions in the history of life and a key step in this transition is the occurrence of kin associations. Yet, the question of what demographic processes and environmental factors generate kin-structured populations and drive kin-directed cooperation remains open. In this review, we synthesise 30 years of studies of the long-tailed tit Aegithalos caudatus, which has a kin-selected cooperative breeding system with redirected help: failed breeders may help to raise offspring of conspecifics, typically relatives, breeding nearby.

A review of the roles of exosomes in salivary gland diseases with an emphasis on primary Sjögren's syndrome.

J Dent Sci

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Oral Diseases, National Clinical Research Center for Oral Diseases, West China Hospital of Stomatology, Sichuan University, Chengdu, China.

Salivary gland diseases encompass a broad range of conditions, including autoimmune, inflammatory, obstructive, and neoplastic disorders, significantly impacting oral health and overall well-being. Recent research has highlighted the crucial role of exosomes, small extracellular vesicles, in these diseases. Exosomes mediate intercellular communication by transferring bioactive molecules such as proteins, microRNAs, and lipids, positioning them as potential diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic agents.
