Purpose: To explore the practices, experiences, and needs of young mothers with a history of maltreatment who are introducing their children to complementary foods.
Design And Methods: In-depth interviews (n = 9) were conducted with young mothers (19-23 yrs) who had childhood histories of abuse and neglect (maltreatment). Interviews were transcribed verbatim and analyzed using a five-step thematic analysis approach.
Results: Thematic analysis resulted in three themes: (1) Practices and sources of information, (2) Providing the best, and (3) Feeding challenges. Participants' primary sources of nutrition information were family or foster parents and Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) educators. Participants expressed wanting to give their children healthy food and to change the cycle by not repeating some of their own childhood food experiences. Finally, participants sometimes struggled with food affordability.
Conclusions: The study highlights the need for additional support for young maltreated mothers, including access to healthy foods and education about infant feeding.
Practice Implications: Young maltreated mothers are in need of trauma-informed and strengths-based complementary feeding information and support with basic needs. Universal trauma-informed care has the potential to prevent re-traumatization and improve patient care and nutrition education.

Background: Early initiation of breastfeeding is defined as giving breast milk to the newborn within one hour of birth. It strengthens the link between mother and child, promotes cognitive development, and lowers the chance of obesity and non-communicable diseases during the prime years of life. Nowadays, only 50% of newborns worldwide receive breast milk within their first hour of life.

The pregnancy of a patient with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH) represents a challenge in the clinical setting due to the high cardiovascular risk of the mother and maternal-fetal morbidity. The lipid lowering drugs are generally contraindicated and lipoprotein apheresis (LA) is the only accepted treatment in HoFH pregnant woman. Liposorber D, an LA technique on whole blood, has good efficacy, safety, and short operative time.

Background: Polio, a debeilitating and potentially life-threatening disease, continues to pose a risk to young children globally. While vaccination offers a powerful shield, its reach is not always equal. This study explores socioeconomic and geographical inequalities in polio immunisation coverage among two-year-olds in Sierra Leone between 2008 and 2019.

Background: Breastfeeding is the optimal source of nutrition for infants and young children, essential for their healthy growth and development. However, a gap in cohort studies tracking breastfeeding up to six months postpartum may lead caregivers to miss critical intervention opportunities.
Methods: This study conducted a three-wave prospective cohort analysis to examine maternal breastfeeding trajectories within the first six months postpartum and to develop risk prediction models for each period using advanced machine learning algorithms.
