Background: BXCL501, a sublingual film formulation of dexmedetomidine, a highly selective α2 adrenoceptor agonist, is currently being studied for the acute treatment of agitation associated with dementia.
Method: This was a Phase 1b/2 study assessing efficacy and tolerability of BXCL501 for treatment of acute agitation associated with dementia. Subjects were randomized to active treatment with BXCL501 (30, 40, or 60µg) or placebo.

Background: The use of potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs) in older adults with dementia and/or Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) has been associated with increased adverse events, drug-related problems (DRPs), prolonged hospitalization, risk of falls, and increased length of stay. This study aimed to identify which explicit tool, Beers criteria 2023 or Screening Tool of Older Persons Potentially Inappropriate Prescriptions (STOPP) 2023, identifies more PIM use among older adults with MCI or dementia.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted at a Multispecialty Interprofessional Team-based (MINT) memory clinic.
Background: There are no evidence-based exercise guidelines to reduce falls in people living with dementia (PWD). The purpose of this pilot randomized controlled trial (RCT) was to determine the 1) feasibility and acceptability, and 2) effect of exercise on cognition and falls (exploratory) relative to usual care alone among PWD.
Methods: We randomized PWD to the exercise (n = 21) or usual care group (n = 21) at two residential care facilities in our pilot parallel, assessor-blinded RCT (1:1) [NCT05488951].

Introduction: Frailty is thought to be associated with an increased risk of adverse health outcomes such as death and falls, but comparatively little is known about the impact of frailty transitions on the adverse health outcomes. Moreover, owing to insufficient sample size or a single-center study design, previous studies have not been sufficiently representative of elderly inpatients in China. This study aimed to provide estimates at the population level of the association between frailty transitions and adverse outcomes among elderly inpatients following discharge.
