Sprouts and microgreens which belong to the Brassicaceae family contain significantly more glucosinolates than mature vegetables, and their composition often differs too. These plant growth stages can be a valuable supplement of the aforementioned compounds in the diet. The content and proportion of individual glucosinolates in sprouts and microgreens can be regulated by modifying the length and temperature of cultivation, the type of light, the use of mineral compounds, elicitation, primming, and cold plasma as well as storage conditions.

Coagulation and platelet function in cold-stored whole blood on missions in a helicopter emergency service.

Acta Anaesthesiol Scand

Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care, Institute of Clinical Sciences, Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Gothenburg, Sweden.

Background: Haemorrhage is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in trauma, and prehospital transfusion of blood products is often necessary. Whole blood has been proposed to be the best alternative, but it is unclear whether, and how, storage and transport of the blood in a helicopter affects the blood units. We investigated the coagulation capacity and platelet function in whole blood at different time points during helicopter missions.

School of Pharmacy, Lanzhou University, Lanzhou 730030 China; Department of Pharmacy, The Second Hospital & Clinical Medical School, Lanzhou University, Lanzhou 730030 China. Electronic address:

Objective: To develop a rapid, convenient, accurate, and low-residual-effect ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) method for the determination of polymyxin B sulfate and colistin sulfate in the blood of patients with multidrug-resistant bacterial infections, as well as caspofungin acetate in the blood of patients with fungal infections, thus facilitating the rational use of antibiotics in clinical applications.

Methods: All analytes were diluted with 0.2 % aqueous formic acid, and plasma proteins were precipitated using acetonitrile.

An original plasma assisted vapor phase route is proposed for the low-temperature fabrication of supported NiO nanostructures on conductive glasses. The sole deposition time variation enables to tailor material properties, modulating, in turn, the system wettability and functional performances in the photodegradation of recalcitrant pollutants.
