In this study, we introduce a method for adjusting the wing angles of windmill beams. After varying the phase parameters, the sector strengths with different wing angles were generated, and they exhibited a self-rotating property in free-space propagation. This phase was obtained by performing an elliptical operation on the stretching vortex phase. The angle between the wings of the beam varied with the ellipticity. Accordingly, array windmill beams with adjustable wing angles were designed. Finally, we analyzed the evolution of the wing angle and self-rotating properties of the beam in detail. The experimental results were consistent with those of simulations. This operational method can be applied to optical cropping techniques, and the beam can be used in optical manipulation and imaging applications.

This article presents the results of experimental studies on the influence of the geometry of high-voltage plasma actuator electrodes on the change in flow in the boundary layer and their influence on the change in the lift coefficient. The plasma actuator used in the described experimental studies has a completely different structure. The experimental model of the plasma actuator uses a large mesh ground electrode and different geometries of the high-voltage electrodes, namely copper solid electrodes and mesh electrodes (the use of mesh electrodes, large GND and HV is a new solution).

Background: Hip morphology variations, particularly in femoral neck shaft angle (NSA) and iliac wing width (IWW), have been associated with gluteal tendinopathy. However, the biomechanical implications of these morphological differences on gluteal muscle function are not well understood. This study investigates how NSA and IWW influence gluteal muscle forces, moment arms, and estimated tendon loads during walking, aiming to provide insights into the potential biomechanical pathways that may contribute to altered lateral hip loading patterns.

The use of winglet devices is an efficient technique for enhancing aerodynamic performance. This study investigates the effects of winglet cant angles on both the aerodynamics and aeroacoustics of a commercial wing, comparing them to other significant parameters using a parametric analysis. A Full Factorial Design method is employed to generate a matrix of experiments, facilitating a detailed exploration of flow physics, with lift-to-drag ratio (L/D) and the integral of Acoustic Power Level (APL) as the primary representatives of aerodynamic and acoustic performance, respectively.

The wings of birds contain complex morphing mechanisms that enable them to perform remarkable aerial maneuvers. Wing morphing is often described using five wingbeat motion parameters: flapping, bending, folding, sweeping, and twisting. However, owing to a lack of real bird flight data, in-depth studies on the aerodynamic properties of these coupled motions remain scarce.

Seventeen species of the -group of (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae) are reviewed worldwide, including three new species, and five previously described species in China. The -group was defined by a combination of characters: head and body dark with parts of metasoma pale; fore wing with a complete row of setae inside the linea calva, or also only with a few setae in the angle between the linea and marginal vein; legs with mesocoxae, metacoxae and metatibia dark, metafemur pale. In this paper, three new species, Wang & Huang, , Wang & Huang, and Wang & Huang, , are described and illustrated, with notes on one species, Hopper & Woolley, new to China.
