It is inevitable for polyphenols and polysaccharides to interact during food preparation. Modifications in microstructure can lead to changes in the physical and chemical properties of food systems, which in turn may influence the nutritional characteristics and functional activities of the food. Recent studies have shown that, in addition to traditional Chinese medicine compounds, certain natural polysaccharides and polyphenols exhibit significant anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. These compounds are also associated with beneficial therapeutic effects for the prevention and treatment of acute lung injury. The objective of this study was to examine the synergistic antioxidant effects of chlorogenic acid (CA) and polysaccharide (LBP) in various ratios, along with their combined antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects on LPS-induced inflammation in rat alveolar macrophages. Using the Combination Index (CI), which quantifies the synergistic or antagonistic effect of two substances, all four combinations showed synergistic antioxidant properties over a range of concentrations by in vitro antioxidant property experiments. However, based on comparing them, the four group ratios exhibited the highest antioxidant activity of the infusion at CA:LBP = 1:7, indicating synergistic interactions (CI < 1). In addition, the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of the CA-LBP complex were observed to alleviate cellular inflammatory injury by reducing LPS-induced nitric oxide and reactive oxygen species production and inhibiting the release of inflammatory factors such as TNF-α and IL-6.

Background: The present study recapitulates the potency of the novel synthesized piperazine-benzoquinone derivative as a lead molecule selectively targeting AChE along with the antioxidative potential for the management of cognitive decline in Alzheimer's disease.
Method: Novel piperazine-benzoquinone derivative was synthesized implementing appropriate synthetic procedures and was characterized by various spectral and elemental techniques. The purity of this synthetic analogue was ascertained by TLC, melting point determination and elemental analyses.

Background: The effect of high consumption of psychoactive substances of codeine (CDE), tramadol (TMD), and Cannabis sativa (CNB) as concoction has been associated with altered brain cognitive and neurochemical functions. However, the understanding of the complex mechanism behind the intake of Cannabis sativa co-administration with tramadol and codeine on both cardiac and brain function, neurotransmitters, purinergic, and antioxidant enzymes activities in the brain and heart of rats remains unreported.
Method: The measure of cognition using morris water maze (MWM) and Y-maze tests, hemodynamic parameters namely systolic blood pressure (SBP) and heart rate (HR), acetylcholinesterase (AChE), butyl-cholinesterase (BCHE), adenosine deaminase (ADA), arginase, catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzymes' activities, reduced glutathione (GSH) and malondialdehyde (MDA), nitric oxide (NO) levels, in the brain and heart of CNB, TMD, and CDE exposed rats was done.

Background: The metal oxide nanoparticles possess unique properties such as biological compatibility, superior reactivity, and capacity to develop reactive oxygen species, due to this they have drawn significant interest in cancer treatment. The various MONPs such as cerium oxide, Copper oxide, Iron oxide, Titanium dioxide, and Zinc oxide have been investigated for several types of cancers including brain, breast, cervical, colon, leukemia, liver, lung, melanoma, ovarian, and prostate cancers. However, traditional physiochemical synthetic methods for MONPs commonly include toxic materials, a major concern that raises questions regarding their biocompatibility and safety.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative musculoskeletal disease, featured by the destruction of articular cartilage. Oxidative stress, one of the drivers of the extracellular matrix degradation in cartilage, plays a vital role in OA pathogenesis. Senkyunolide I (SEI) is a natural compound with a prominent anti-oxidative stress property against multiple diseases.

Lipid and protein oxidation have significant effects on the shelf-life and nutritional value of meat and meat products. While lipid oxidation has been extensively studied, it has been recognized that proteins are also susceptible to oxidation. However, the precise mechanisms of oxygen-induced amino acid and protein modifications in the food matrix remain unclear.
