Exercise, despite being a beneficial activity for health, can also be a source of oxidative imbalance, which can lead to a decrease in performance. Furthermore, melatonin is an endogenous molecule that may counteract exercise-induced oxidative stress. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential ergogenic and antioxidant capacity of melatonin administered for a maximal effort test.

Lipids are indispensable components of living organisms and play pivotal roles in cell-membrane fluidity, energy provision, and neurotransmitter transmission and transport. Lipids can act as potential biomarkers of diseases given their abilities to indicate cell-growth status. For example, the lipid-metabolism processes of cancer cells are distinct from those of normal cells owing to their rapid proliferation and adaptation to ever-changing biological environments.

Background: Adaptative desaturation in fatty acid (FA) is an emerging hallmark of cancer metabolic plasticity. Desaturases such as stearoyl-CoA desaturase (SCD) and fatty acid desaturase 2 (FADS2) have been implicated in multiple cancers, and their dominant and compensatory effects have recently been highlighted. However, how tumors initiate and sustain their self-sufficient FA desaturation to maintain phenotypic transition remains elusive.

A key goal of synthetic morphogenesis is the identification and implementation of methods to control morphogenesis. One line of research is the use of synthetic genetic circuits guiding the self-organization of cell ensembles. This approach has led to several recent successes, including control of cellular rearrangements in 3D via control of cell-cell adhesion by user-designed artificial genetic circuits.

Introduction: With the emergence of the global pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2, health service providers were put to the test. The utilization of operating theatres is one of the prime indicators of the logistic and organizational efficacy of a hospital. We performed an analysis evaluating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the fluidity of providing surgical care to a patient with severe comorbidities and the organizational efficacy of the operating theater in a university hospital in northern Poland.
