The aim of the present research was to test the hypothesis that rate of force development (RFD) during a handgrip task of the dominant arm in three different positions is associated with maximal post-impact ball speed of flat serve (PIBS). Altogether 23 elite junior boys (aged 14.84 ± 2.47 years; weight 59.51 ± 13.83 kg; height 170.47 ± 16.34 cm) tennis players participated in the study. To assess the maximal voluntary contraction (MVC) and RFD during the task, four handgrip tests and a serve test were applied to estimate PIBS. Spearman's rank correlation showed a significant positive correlation between RFD of dominant arm in each three position and PIBS (r = 0.82-0.86; < 0.001). A very large, significantly positive correlation was also found between MVC of the dominant arm and PIBS (r = 0.88; < 0.01). The result of the present study indicated that rapid force generation of muscles in the forearm and wrist may probably play a role in the formation of a stable contact point, and it is in connection with PIBS. It is in contrast to the slow maximal force exertion that much rather characterizes the general strength state of players. Therefore, measurement of the RFD during a handgrip task is suggested in the testing session of the flat serve of junior tennis players.

Background: This study aims to investigate the effect of a newly developed virtual reality task-oriented training (VR-TOT) video game on upper extremity fine motor function compared with conventional occupational therapy through leap motion in children with spastic hemiplegic cerebral palsy (CP).
Methods: In this double-blind randomized clinical trial, 30 children with spastic hemiplegic CP aged six to 10 years were included and randomly allocated into two groups. During six weeks, 15 patients in the intervention group received VR_TOT-based video game in addition to conventional occupational therapy, whereas 15 patients in the control group received only conventional occupational therapy.

Balance tasks are critical for performance in acrobatic gymnastics, where athletes often train and compete in mixed-age groups with varying maturational stages. To improve individualized training, in this cross-sectional study, the relationship was examined between strength capacity and balance task performance in female gymnasts at two maturational stages based on peak height velocity (PHV). Circa-PHV (n = 17, 11.

The sympathetic nervous system (SNS) is essential for the body's immediate response to stress, initiating physiological changes that can be measured through sympathetic nerve activity (SNA). While microneurography (MNG) is the gold standard for direct SNA measurement, its invasive nature limits its practical use in clinical settings. This study investigates the use of multi-wavelength photoplethysmography (PPG) as a non-invasive alternative for SNA measurement.
