The prototypic crAssphage () is one of the most abundant, prevalent, and persistent gut bacteriophages, yet it remains uncultured and its lifestyle uncharacterized. For the last decade, crAssphage has escaped plaque-dependent culturing efforts, leading us to investigate alternative lifestyles that might explain its widespread success. Through genomic analyses and culturing, we find that crAssphage uses a phage-plasmid lifestyle to persist extrachromosomally.

Background: In vascular endothelial cells, cysteine metabolism by the cystathionine γ lyase (CSE), generates hydrogen sulfide-related sulfane sulfur compounds (HS), that exert their biological actions via cysteine -sulfhydration of target proteins. This study set out to map the "-sulfhydrome" (ie, the spectrum of proteins targeted by HS) in human endothelial cells.
Methods: Liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry was used to identify -sulfhydrated cysteines in endothelial cell proteins and β3 integrin intraprotein disulfide bond rearrangement.

Objective: To compare the cleansing efficacy of waist-shaped versus cylindric inter-dental brushes in patients receiving supportive periodontal therapy.
Materials And Methods: After sample size estimation, 20 periodontal maintenance patients diagnosed with periodontitis stage 3 were recruited. Brushing efficacy of waist-shaped and cylindric inter-dental brushes was evaluated in a randomized-controlled, examiner-blinded, two-period crossover study by assessment of the Turesky modification of Quigley-Hein plaque index (T-QHI) and the papillary bleeding index (PBI) at four sites per tooth.
