A Tutorial on the Applications of Lowenkron's Joint Control to Language Acquisition Programs.

Published: December 2024

Mediating one's behavior through covert or overt verbal behavior is a phenomenon familiar to anyone who has had to remember a phone number with no way to write it down, follow a recipe without consulting the cookbook for each step, or solve a math equation without a calculator or pencil and paper. Jointly controlled responding is a type of multiply controlled responding that may provide a behavioral analysis of such mediating responses. Joint control, as we will discuss in detail, involves one or more verbal responses bringing other verbal or nonverbal responses to strength under appropriate controlling conditions. The present article will provide guidance for practitioners on how to apply evidence-based methods to teach jointly controlled responses, provide guidance for development of instructional programming, and suggest future applications for using the concept of joint control.

The basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factors (TFs) play important roles in various plant developmental and biological processes. However, the precise mechanisms by which bHLH TFs regulate fruit ripening warrant further investigation. Polyamine oxidase (PAO) is crucial for polyamine (PA) catabolism and plays crucial roles in fruit ripening.

Hydroxyapatite Chitosan Gradient Pore Scaffold Activates Oxidative Phosphorylation Pathway to Induce Bone Formation.

Front Biosci (Landmark Ed)

January 2025

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, The First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University, Fujian Provincial Key Laboratory of Stomatology, National Regional Medical Center, Binhai Campus of The First Affiliated Hospital, 350005 Fuzhou, Fujian, China.

Background: In this study, we prepared a porous gradient scaffold with hydroxyapatite microtubules (HAMT) and chitosan (CHS) and investigated osteogenesis induced by these scaffolds.

Methods: The arrangement of wax balls in the mold can control the size and distribution of the pores of the scaffold, and form an interconnected gradient pore structure. The scaffolds were systematically evaluated and for biocompatibility, biological activity, and regulatory mechanisms.

Background: Total ankle replacement (TAR) has evolved in the last decade from a procedure rife with complication and failure to a promising alternative to arthrodesis. The ability to maintain ankle joint range of motion is showing great promise in patient-reported outcomes, postsurgical pain, as well as long-term sequalae of joint fusion. Although TAR can be performed via either an anterior or lateral approach both with their own sets of benefits and potential complications, the consensus seems to be that one is no better than the other when performed by high-volume surgeons.

Gosling gout disease is an infectious disease caused by goose astrovirus (GAstV), which can result in urate deposition in the internal organs and joints of goslings. Since 2015, outbreaks of gosling gout disease have occurred in several goose-producing areas in China. Subsequently, the disease spread to the vast majority of eastern China, becoming a major threat to goose farms and causing huge economic losses to the goose industry.
