During the past 40 years, the prevalence of diabetes in China has increased from less than 1·0% in 1980 to 12·4% in 2018, an increase in line with the rapid growth of the nation's economy. To address such a burden, the Healthy China 2030 initiative and subsequent Action Plan, including a diabetes prevention and control campaign, were launched. A shift from a disease-centred approach to a health-centred approach and from treatment to prevention is the core of the Action Plan and diabetes management in China. In this Review, we discuss the challenges of diabetes prevention in China, including unhealthy lifestyle, increasing young-onset type 2 diabetes, and substantial diabetes care disparities. To address such challenges, countermeasures across different stages of diabetes prevention and targeted at different populations, are needed. Such countermeasures include primordial prevention of risk factors in the general population, primary prevention of diabetes onset in high-risk populations, and secondary prevention of cardiovascular complications for individuals with diabetes. We reflect on China's current progress, strategies, and achievements.

Aims: Skin disorders occur more frequently with sodium-dependent glucose cotransporter type 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors than with other antidiabetic drugs. We conducted basic research using ipragliflozin, with the aim of identifying new measures to prevent skin disorders caused by SGLT2 inhibitors.
Methods: db/db type 2 diabetes model mice were orally administered ipragliflozin (10 mg/kg or 30 mg/kg) once a day for 28 days and skin function genes were analysed by real-time RT-PCR or Western blotting.

Introduction And Aims: Neutrophil percentage-to-albumin ratio (NPAR) is a novel biomarker of systemic inflammation. The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between NPAR and periodontitis.
Methods: Data from the National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey (NHANES) between 2009 and 2014 (N = 10,128) were utilized in this cross-sectional study.

Aims: This study aims to describe pain management technique usage and social functioning limitations among adults with chronic pain by diabetes status.
Methods: The 2019 and 2020 National Health Interview Survey data were pooled to complete this analysis. Use of the following techniques in the past 3 months were measured: 1) prescription opioids; 2) physical, rehabilitative, or occupational therapy; 3) talk therapies; 4) chiropractic care; 5) yoga, Tai Chi, or Qi Gong; 6) massage; and 7) relaxation techniques.
Introduction Parenteral heparin is widely used as bridging therapy while optimising oral anticoagulation(OAC). Newer Direct-Acting OACs(DOACs) attain therapeutic effect very quickly. We report the use of dabigatran as bridging therapy during warfarin optimization for cardioembolic stroke in two patients who opted to receive warfarin for long-term anticoagulation for secondary stroke prevention.

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is one of the most serious and prevalent complications associated with diabetes. Consequently, antidiabetic drugs or foods potentially protecting the kidneys are of significant therapeutic value. Sulforaphene (SFE) is a natural isothiocyanate derived from radish seeds, known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
