This article aims to examine the lived experiences of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) diagnosis in adulthood, emphasising its revelatory nature and diverse emotional responses it provokes. The diagnosis serves as a pivotal moment of self-discovery, often evoking feelings of validation and identity affirmation. However, it also triggers a complex array of emotions, including grieving for the childhood self, frustration with society's failure to recognise the legitimate challenges and evolving self-concept post diagnosis.

Applications of covalent organic frameworks (COFs)-based sensors for food safety: Synthetic strategies, characteristics and current state-of-art.

Food Chem

December 2024

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Shanxi Provincial Key Laboratory of Chemical Biosensing, Shanxi Datong University, Datong 037009, PR China. Electronic address:

Food safety is a pressing global public issue that has garnered significant attention worldwide, especially recent outbreaks of foodborne illnesses. The use of emerging porous materials enables the development of effective and durable detection methods for the detection of food contaminants. Covalent organic frameworks (COFs), as a class of emerging porous crystalline materials, rendered with the advantage of large specific surface area, highly controllable and ordered structures, diverse pore structures, high stability, and controllable surface functionalization.

The dataset of main grain land changes in China over 1985-2020.

Sci Data

December 2024

Departmentof Earth System Science Tsinghua University, Tsinghua University, Beijing, 100084, China.

Continuous, Accurate, and detailed information on main grain land (MGL) areas is crucial for provisioning food security and making policies affecting sustainable agricultural production. It still lacks a long-term MGL distribution dataset with fine spatial resolution. This study aimed to produce a long-term, high-resolution MGL distribution map for China.

Ultraflexible Sensor Development via 4D Printing: Enhanced Sensitivity to Strain, Temperature, and Magnetic Fields.

Adv Sci (Weinh)

December 2024

Singapore Centre for 3D Printing, School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, 639798, Singapore.

This paper addresses the trade-off between sensitivity and sensing range in strain sensors, while introducing additional functionalities through an innovative 4D printing approach. The resulting ultraflexible sensor integrates carbon nanotubes/liquid metal hybrids and iron powders within an Ecoflex matrix. The optimization of this composition enables the creation of an uncured resin ideal for Direct Ink Writing (DIW) and a cured sensor with exceptional electromechanical, thermal, and magnetic performance.

Metal complex-based probes for the detection of chloride ions.

Dalton Trans

December 2024

Department of Chemical Sciences, IISER Kolkata, Mohanpur, Nadia 741246, West Bengal, India.

Chloride ions play vital roles in a variety of biological and environmental processes, making their accurate and efficient detection critical for both research and practical applications. In this perspective, we explore the recent advancements in the development of metal complex-based probes for chloride ion detection, with a focus on complexes involving transition and lanthanide metals. These probes offer remarkable selectivity and sensitivity, achieved through diverse mechanisms such as metal coordination, hydrogen bonding, electrostatic interactions, and halogen or chalcogen bonding.
