-average sampling of structures from molecular dynamics (AIMD) simulations can be used to predict theoretical extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) signals that closely match experimental spectra. However, AIMD simulations are time-consuming and resource-intensive, particularly for solvated lanthanide ions, which often form multiple nonrigid geometries with high coordination numbers. To accelerate the characterization of lanthanide structures in solution, we employed the Northwest Potential Energy Surface Search Engine (NWPEsSe), an adaptive-learning global optimization algorithm, to efficiently screen first-shell structures. As case studies, we examine two systems: Eu(NO) dissolved in acetonitrile with a terpyridine ligand (terpyNO), and Nd(NO) dissolved in acetonitrile. The theoretical spectra for structures identified by NWPEsSe were compared to both experimental and AIMD-derived EXAFS spectra. The NWPEsSe algorithm successfully identified the proper solvation structure for both Eu(NO)(terpyNO) and Nd(NO)(acetonitrile), with the calculated EXAFS signals closely matching the experimental spectra for the Eu-ligand complex and showing good similarity for the Nd salt; the better agreement with the ligand-containing structure is attributed to a less dynamic coordination environment due to the rigid ligand. The key advantage of the global optimization algorithm lies in its ability to sample the coordination environment across the potential energy surface and reduce the time required to identify structures from generally a month to within a week. Additionally, this approach is versatile and can be adapted to characterize main-group metal complexes.

Impaired nutritional status is closely related to the development of sarcopenia and poor quality of life (QoL) in cancer patients. This study aimed to investigate the association of Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index (GNRI) with sarcopenia and QoL in patients with gastric cancer (GC). Sarcopenia was diagnosed based on the Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia 2019 criteria.

Distributed coordinated motion control of multiple UAVs oriented to optimization of air-ground relay network.

School of Automation Science and Electrical Engineering, Beihang University, Beijing, 100191, China.

A novel adaptive model-based motion control method for multi-UAV communication relay is proposed, which aims at improving the networks connectivity and the communications performance among a fleet of ground unmanned vehicles. The method addresses the challenge of relay UAVs motion control through joint consideration with unknown multi-user mobility, environmental effects on channel characteristics, unavailable angle-of-arrival data of received signals, and coordination among multiple UAVs. The method consists of two parts: (1) Network connectivity is constructed and communication performance index is defined using the minimum spanning tree in graph theory, which considers both the communication link between ground node and UAV, and the communication link between ground nodes.

Tuberculosis (TB) is the leading cause of death from a single infectious agent. The burden is highest in some low- and middle-income countries. One-quarter of the world's population is estimated to have been infected with TB, which is the seedbed for progressing from TB infection to the deadly and contagious disease itself.

This study evaluated the management of dyslipidemia in Turkey with the goal of understanding current diagnosis and treatment patterns, as well as identifying unmet needs in achieving effective low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) targets. Using a Delphi panel consisting of nine expert cardiologists, the study reveals key gaps in dyslipidemia management, particularly in the underutilization of combination therapies, such as statins and PCSK9 inhibitors, which are crucial for achieving LDL-C targets in high-risk patients. The findings indicate that while many patients with very high cardiovascular risk are diagnosed, a significant proportion do not receive optimal treatment to reach LDL-C levels recommended by European guidelines.

Recent years have witnessed a tremendous popularity growth of optimization methods in high-frequency electronics, including microwave design. With the increasing complexity of passive microwave components, meticulous tuning of their geometry parameters has become imperative to fulfill demands imposed by the diverse application areas. More and more often, achieving the best possible performance requires global optimization.
