Chiral sensing is essential in biochemistry, biomedicine, and food industries. Traditional chiral sensing mainly focuses on enhancing the chiral near fields, where the quality factor of the resonator has largely been ignored. Here, we propose a whispering gallery mode (WGM) optical microresonator to enhance the chiral signal by exploiting its high quality factor. The enhancement factor in the WGM resonator is linearly dependent on the quality factor of the microresonator and exponentially increases with the decreasing thickness of the chiral analyte. Based on this, we achieve a chiral enhancement factor of more than two orders of magnitude, which features a background-free chiroptical signal. Our results open a route to attain highly sensitive chiral sensing based on the WGM optical resonator, which promotes the realization of chiral applications in integrated optics.

Chiral discrimination is an indispensable tool that has pivotal importance in the assignment of absolute configuration and determination of enantiomeric excess in chiral compounds. A series of enantiomerically pure -1,2-diaminocyclohexane (-DACH)-derived benzamides were first synthesized by simple chemical steps, and 14 variated derivatives have been assessed as NMR chiral solvating agents (CSAs) for discrimination of the signals of mandelic acid (MA) in H NMR analysis. The highly efficient chiral recognition of CSA on different substrates, including MAs, carboxylic acids, amino acid derivatives, and phosphoric acids (32 examples), was expanded via H, F, and P NMR spectroscopy.

Designing alloys with intrinsic chirality for chiral analysis is an interesting subject, since most alloys are achiral. Here, a starfish-shaped AuCu alloy is facilely prepared through simultaneous reduction of chloroauric acid (HAuCl) and copper chloride (CuCl) by l-ascorbic acid (l-AA). The resultant AuCu alloy exhibits fascinating chirality due to the chiral lattice distortion generated in the alloy.

In recent years, the regulation of anion-mediated chiral assemblies has gained significant interest. This study investigated the modulation of supramolecular chiroptical signals and chiral assembled structures in a triarylamine system containing a urea moiety through fluoride ion-urea bond interactions, aiming to understand the chiral sense amplification in supramolecular assemblies. Chiral triarylamine derivatives containing urea or amide units were synthesized and the self-assemblies were examined in the absence and presence of fluoride ions.

Circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) is an emerging field with significant applications in molecular electronics, optical materials, and chiroptical sensing. Achieving efficient CPL emission in organic systems remains a major challenge, particularly in the development of materials with high fluorescence quantum yields (Φ) and large luminescence dissymmetry factors (g). Herein, we report the efficient synthesis of shape-persistent tetraphenylethylene macrocycles and investigate its potential as a CPL material.

Chiral plasmonic nanomaterials with fascinating physical and chemical properties show emerging chirality-dependent applications in photonics, catalysis, and sensing. The capability to precisely manipulate the plasmonic chirality in a broad spectral range plays a crucial role in enabling the applications of chiral nanomaterials in diverse and complex scenarios; however, it remains a challenge yet to be addressed. Here we demonstrate a strategy to significantly enhance the tunability of circular dichroism (CD) spectra of chiral nanomaterials by constructing core-shell hybrid metal-semiconductor structures with tailored shells.
