Medial capsulorrhaphy is an important step in hallux valgus correction surgery; however, studies on this technique are limited. This study aimed to evaluate the viability and efficacy of modified medial capsulorrhaphy using figure-of-eight sutures for hallux valgus compared to the conventional technique. Retrospective analysis was performed on patients with hallux valgus, comparing a group receiving standard longitudinal capsulorrhaphy (Group 1) and a group that underwent modified capsulorrhaphy using figure-of-eight sutures (Group 2).

Mucopolysaccharidosis type I (MPS I) is a metabolic disorder characterized by a deficiency in α-l-iduronidase (IDUA), leading to impaired glycosaminoglycan degradation. Current approved treatments seek to restore IDUA levels via enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) and/or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). The effectiveness of these treatment strategies in preventing neurodegeneration is limited due to the inability of ERT to penetrate the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and HSCT's limited CNS reconstitution of IDUA levels.

Here, we introduce a catheter-based endoscopic probe designed for multispectral, quantitative monitoring of light-triggered drug release. This tool utilizes red-light photosensitive porphyrin-phospholipid (PoP), which is encapsulated in liposome bilayers to enhance targeted drug delivery.

Background: Early mobility is one strategy to reduce the harm from immobility that children experience in the paediatric intensive care unit (PICU). Early-mobility programmes rely on nurses, who currently perceive insufficient training as a barrier to mobilizing critically ill children. Nurses have identified simulation as a strategy to improve implementation of early-mobility protocols.
