Integrated multi-organ ultrasound is increasingly used across various medical specialties. It should be performed in conjunction with history, physical examination, and other investigations in the diagnostic process to enhance the detection of conditions in the lung, heart, and abdomen. Multi-organ ultrasound has been shown to improve diagnostic accuracy in a sizeable portion of patients, potentially altering treatment plans. Specifically, it aids in assessing shock, sepsis, dyspnea, delirium, and in the perioperative setting, contributing to a more comprehensive patient assessment process.

Adult-onset Still's disease (AOSD) is an uncommon systemic inflammatory disorder that presents with diverse, overlapping symptoms, complicating the diagnostic process due to its nonspecific clinical features and the absence of a definitive diagnostic test. Diagnosis is often challenging and relies on excluding other conditions while maintaining a high index of suspicion, supported by specific diagnostic criteria such as Yamaguchi or Fautrel. Prompt recognition and a multidisciplinary approach are essential, as AOSD can progress to life-threatening multiorgan dysfunction due to a hyperinflammatory response.

Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) is a limited ultrasound examination performed by the clinician at the bedside, emerging as a complement to physical examination across various medical specialties. In the field of nephrology, its integration has been gradual, primarily limited to guiding procedures like temporary dialysis catheter placement or, in some cases, diagnostic kidney ultrasounds. In reality, the assessment of hemodynamic status at the bedside holds immense value for nephrologists, yet there exists limited awareness among practitioners regarding its implementation.

In cats, mycobacteriosis tends to present in a syndromic manner, with cases either being due to tuberculosis (TB) (in countries where TB is endemic), one of the "leprosy-like" diseases affecting the skin and subcutis, panniculitis caused by infection of subcutaneous tissues generally with rapidly growing Mycobacteria spp. or widely disseminated granulomatous disease, which is usually caused by members of the Mycobacterium avium-intracellulare complex (MAC). Disseminated MAC disease is rare, but when it occurs, usually develops in immunocompromised hosts with defective cell-mediated immunity.

Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are well established in handling local features in visual tasks; yet, they falter in managing complex spatial relationships and long-range dependencies that are crucial for medical image segmentation, particularly in identifying pathological changes. While vision transformer (ViT) excels in addressing long-range dependencies, their ability to leverage local features remains inadequate. Recent ViT variants have merged CNNs to improve feature representation and segmentation outcomes, yet challenges with limited receptive fields and precise feature representation persist.

Blunt esophageal injury is an exceptionally rare condition, with complete esophageal avulsion being almost unprecedented in adults. This case study details the clinical presentation, surgical management, and postoperative course of a 50-year-old male who sustained a complete esophageal avulsion following blunt abdominal trauma. The patient presented with increasing abdominal pain two hours after falling while stepping up onto a high truck step, striking his upper abdomen on the step.
