Two-dimensional (2D) materials with van der Waals stacking have been reported to have extraordinary mechanical and electromechanical properties, which give them revolutionary potential in various fields. However, due to the atomic-scale thickness of these 2D materials, their fascinating properties cannot be effectively characterized in many cases using conventional measurement techniques. Based on typical microscopy techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and atomic force microscopy (AFM), a range of microscopy techniques have been developed to systematically quantify the mechanical and electromechanical properties of 2D materials.

Transorbital neuroendoscopic surgery (TONES) has ignited interest in the transorbital access corridor, increasing its use for single and multi-portal skull base interventions. However, the crowding of a small corridor and two-dimensional viewing restrict this access portal. Cadaveric qualitative study to assess the feasibility of transorbital microsurgery (TMS).

The number of publications in biomedicine and life sciences has grown so much that it is difficult to keep track of new scientific works and to have an overview of the evolution of the field as a whole. Here, we present a two-dimensional (2D) map of the entire corpus of biomedical literature, based on the abstract texts of 21 million English articles from the PubMed database. To embed the abstracts into 2D, we used the large language model PubMedBERT, combined with -SNE tailored to handle samples of this size.

Background: Movement is a defining aspect of animals, but it is rarely studied using quantitative methods in microscopic invertebrates. Bdelloid rotifers are a cosmopolitan class of aquatic invertebrates of great scientific interest because of their ability to survive in very harsh environment and also because they represent a rare example of an ancient lineage that only includes asexually reproducing species. In this class, Adineta ricciae has become a model species as it is unusually easy to culture.
