Background: "SuperAgers" are older adults (ages 80+) whose cognitive performance resembles that of adults in their 50s to mid-60s. Factors underlying their exemplary aging are underexplored in large, racially diverse cohorts. Using eight cohorts, we investigated the frequency of APOE genotypes in SuperAgers compared to middle-aged and older adults.

Background: How cerebral microbleeds (CMBs) are formed, and how they cause tissue damage is not fully understood, but it has been suggested they are associated with inflammation, and they could also be related to increased blood-brain barrier (BBB) leakage. We investigated the relationship of CMBs with inflammation and BBB leakage in cerebral small vessel disease, and in particular, whether these 2 processes were increased in the vicinity of CMBs.
Methods: In 54 patients with sporadic cerebral small vessel disease presenting with lacunar stroke, we simultaneously assessed microglial activation using the positron emission tomography ligand [11C]PK11195 and BBB leakage using dynamic contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging, on a positron emission tomography-magnetic resonance imaging system.

This numerical investigation examines the performance and exergy analysis of parabolic trough solar collectors, focusing on the substitution of the conventional circular absorber with a rhombus-shaped absorber. By evaluating the thermal and fluid dynamics properties, this study aims to identify improvements in overall system performance and efficiency. This numerical study conducts a comprehensive thermal analysis of parabolic trough solar collectors by comparing a rhombus-shaped absorber with a conventional circular absorber.

Background/objectives: Routine screening electrocardiograms (ECGs) prior to starting medications for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) remain controversial. This real-world study assessed corrected QT (QTc) interval data from pediatric patients who had a baseline ECG performed prior to initiating treatment with ADHD medications and ≥6 months of clinical follow-up.
Methods: A retrospective chart review of children aged 2-18 years diagnosed with ADHD with/without autism spectrum disorder (ASD) at child neurology clinics in Jordan (June 2019 and June 2021) was performed, and children were prescribed with ADHD medications to manage symptoms.
