Department of Surgery, Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Electronic address:
Background: Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) commonly occurs following metabolic/bariatric surgery, contributing to increased health care utilization and length of stay (LOS). Studies have suggested the benefit of protein-predominant meals in suppressing gastric tachyarrhythmia and PONV.
Objective: To investigate the impact of a high-protein postoperative liquid diet on PONV and LOS after primary sleeve gastrectomy (SG).

International Research Group - IRG, Natal, Brazil.
Background: The skin, the largest organ in the human body, is composed of complex layers that include subcutaneous adipose tissue. Understanding the characteristics of this skin structure is essential to optimize therapeutic interventions, such as cryolipolysis, aiming for more effective and personalized results.
Objective: To evaluate the immunohistochemical effects of skin tissue in adult women undergoing cryolipolysis.

Metabolic and Bariatric Unit, GB Obesitas, Malmö, Sweden.
Background: A limited subset of patients undergoing Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) may develop intractable symptoms that ultimately require reversal to normal anatomy. Existing literature on this subject is characterized by small cohort sizes, substantial variation in surgical techniques, and limited follow-up durations. However, this study presents the largest single-center series to date, comprising seventy patients.

For decades, the world has faced growing floods of lifestyle-responsive, chronic, non-communicable diseases (cNCDs). Though obesity is certainly the most discussed flood, there are more - prominently including type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease. Unfortunately, public health has yet to solve the riddle as to how to effectively mitigate these floods' currents or consequences despite in some cases successfully effecting behaviour changes through interventions.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is one of the leading causes of chronic liver disease globally. Based on the 2023 definition, MASLD is characterized by the presence of metabolic dysfunction and limited alcohol consumption (<140 grams/week for women, <210 grams/week for men). Given the significant burden of MASLD in Latin America, this guidance was developed by the Latin American Association for the Study of the Liver (ALEH) Working Group to address key aspects of its clinical assessment and therapeutic strategies.
