AI Article Synopsis

  • The study aimed to validate a 12-station OSCE designed for assessing clinical competence in undergraduate nursing students.
  • A sample of 65 senior nursing students participated, showing statistically significant interrater reliability and establishing content validity for the OSCE checklist and stations.
  • While students found the OSCE helpful, they also expressed feelings of unpreparedness, and there were no significant correlations between OSCE scores and final course grades.

Article Abstract

The purpose of this study was to establish the psychometrics of a 12-station mental health Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) to evaluate the clinical competence of undergraduate nursing students. A convenience sample of 65 first-semester senior-level undergraduate students participated. Content validities for the OSCE checklist and stations were established. Interrater reliability was statistically significant. Correlations between the OSCE and final course exam and grade were not statistically significant. Students described the OSCE as a beneficial learning experience but felt unprepared. This OSCE was initially established as a reliable, valid tool to objectively assess nursing competence.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the prevalence and factors related to depression and anxiety among individuals with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the UK, revealing that significant portions experience these mental health issues.
  • Participants completed an online survey that assessed mental health history and treatment preferences, finding that over half had a history of diagnosed depression and many preferred in-person support.
  • The results indicated that certain demographics, including age and gender, as well as factors like self-efficacy and current treatment, were significantly related to the levels of depression and anxiety symptoms, but differences in symptoms were not influenced by the kidney service centers’ location or size.

The development of efficient and targeted methods for delivering DNA in vivo has long been a major focus of research. In this study, we introduce a gene Delivery approach Admitted by small Metabolites, named gDAM, for the efficient and targeted delivery of naked DNA into astrocytes in the adult brains of mice. gDAM utilizes a straightforward combination of DNA and small metabolites, including glycine, L-proline, L-serine, L-histidine, D-alanine, Gly-Gly, and Gly-Gly-Gly, to achieve astrocyte-specific delivery of naked DNA, resulting in transient and robust gene expression in these cells.

Background: In clinical practice, creative arts therapy is frequently utilized for the treatment of traumatized adults, with reports of favorable outcomes. However, the effectiveness of this intervention in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) treatment has not yet been definitively established through meta-analysis. In this meta-analysis, we aim to assess the effectiveness of creative arts therapy in the management of PTSD.
