We present the first published account of a pseudoaneurysm of the Marginal artery of Drummond (MAoD) following an emergency open surgical repair of an inflammatory abdominal aortic aneurysm, in which the inferior mesenteric artery was ligated. This was hypothesized to be an iatrogenic injury secondary to retraction of the colonic mesentery during dissection of the aneurysm neck. The risk of pseudoaneurysm growth and rupture versus bowel ischaemia were evaluated in the post-operative phase. Ultimately, the patient underwent successful interventional embolization of the MAoD with no signs of bowel ischaemia post-intervention.

Partial nephrectomy (PN) is the gold standard for the resection of amenable small renal masses. Some surgeons have adopted tumor enucleation (TE) over the standard margin PN (SPN) technique based on preservation of healthy renal parenchyma by following the tumor pseudocapsule. However, TE may also confer additional advantages due to avoidance of sharp incision including reduction in perioperative and bleeding complications.

Sagittal split ramus osteotomy (SSRO) is a widely performed orthognathic surgery; however, among the various reported complications of SSRO, pseudoaneurysms are rarely reported. Pseudoaneurysms are rare vascular lesions formed by damage to the arterial wall that can occur after trauma or postoperatively, causing uncontrolled bleeding. The present report describes a case of a pseudoaneurysm that occurred after SSRO in a 22-year-old female patient.
