Exercise is an important physiological activity with several health benefits. In the setting of ischemic heart disease (IHD), the view toward exercise has greatly evolved throughout the years, concurrently to several major advances in the management of this complex entity. Currently, exercise training has broad applications across the IHD continuum as a powerful tool in its overall management, being a core component of comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation programs. Beyond this, exercise has also been incorporated as an integral part of contemporary methodologies aiming to provide diagnostic and prognostic data, such as cardiopulmonary exercise stress testing or stress echocardiography. In this article, we provide a pragmatic overview concerning the role of exercise in IHD, with a focus on its incorporation in cardiac rehabilitation frameworks, while also discussing some of the challenges and unmet needs concerning these interventions.

Depression in patients with atrial fibrillation is associated with poor health outcomes, reduced health-related quality of life, and elevated societal costs. The patient was a 58-year-old male with a five-month history of tingling in his right shoulder region, radicular pain in his right arm, and increased pain on the right chest wall that worsened with lying supine down. The patient was diagnosed with a right-sided hemorrhagic synovial cyst at the C7-T1 level.

Air pollution is a major cardiovascular risk factor leading to higher rates of heart failure and myocardial infarction (MI), but its effects on functional recovery after an MI remain unknown. Cardiac rehabilitation is a cornerstone of post-MI care and leads to better performance and quality of life, but its benefits may be hampered in heavily polluted environments. To assess the effect of different pollutants on post-MI rehabilitation, we included 137 post-MI patients from 7 Spanish hospitals that were enrolled in a cardiac rehabilitation program who underwent two cardiopulmonary exercise tests (CPET) within a 12-week period.

Objective: The objective of this study is to examine the postoperative self-management experiences of patients with aortic dissection (AD) through qualitative interviews, providing a foundation for the standardized management of postoperative home care for these patients.
Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 18 patients with AD postoperatively, in the cardiac surgery department of a tertiary hospital in Fujian Province between March and May 2020. This qualitative study used phenomenological methods and purposive sampling, with data analyzed using Colaizzi's seven-step approach to extract themes.
