The Hidden Giant: A Report of an Enormous Rhinolith.

Indian J Otolaryngol Head Neck Surg

Swami Vivekananda hospital, Dehradun, India.

Published: December 2024

Unlabelled: Rhinolith, commonly addressed as nasal stone is quite unusual and rare entity. It is actually a calcified mass that form within the nasal cavity, typically as a result of mineral deposits accumulating around a core of foreign material (which can be exogenous or endogenous in origin). Although often small and asymptomatic, rhinolith can occasionally grow to significant size, causing severe clinical symptoms. Case description: We report a case of this clinical entity, a tribal woman from interior Himalayan regions, where the lack of medical facilities and expertise led to missed diagnosis, years of suffering and a rhinolith of humongous proportions.

Combating plastic pollution requires an understanding of the complex intersectoral flows of plastics and related products. In this study, we develop an inventory of 150 categories of products consisting of/containing plastics based on bottom-up analysis and establish a plastics input-output material flow analysis (PIO-MFA) model that reveals intersectoral flows, sectoral consumption, exports, and stocks of embedded plastics. In 2018, consumption-based plastic usage in China reached 140 million tons (Mt), with 123.

Dwarf bamboo () is a crucial food source for the giant pandas. With its shallow root system and rapid growth, dwarf bamboo is highly sensitive to drought stress and nitrogen deposition, both major concerns of global climate change affecting plant growth and rhizosphere environments. However, few reports address the response mechanisms of the dwarf bamboo rhizosphere environment to these two factors.
