In the contemporary world, thyroid disease poses a prevalent health issue, particularly affecting women's well-being. Recognizing the significance of maternal thyroid (MT) hormones in fetal neurodevelopment during the first half of pregnancy, this study introduces the HNN-GSO model. This groundbreaking hybrid approach, utilizing the MT dataset, integrates ResNet-50 and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) within a Glow-worm Swarm Optimization (GSO) framework for optimal parameter tuning.

The interaction between figs and fig wasps provides a striking example of obligate brood site pollination mutualism. Monoecious figs, constituting independent radiations in each tropical biome, are present in significant proportions worldwide, but in continental Asia, dioecious figs have diverged into various niches, making the region's assemblage remarkably diverse. However, the reproductive success of figs and fig wasps largely depends on the fig wasp dispersal process.

Hemicellulose-based hydrogels are three-dimensional networked hydrophilic polymer with high water retention, good biocompatibility, and mechanical properties, which have attracted much attention in the field of soft materials. Herein, recent advances and developments in hemicellulose-based hydrogels were reviewed. The preparation method, formation mechanism and properties of hemicellulose-based hydrogels were introduced from the aspects of chemical cross-linking and physical cross-linking.

Firefly adult bioluminescence functions as signal communication between sexes. How sympatric sibling species with similar glow pattern recognize their conspecific mates remains largely unknown. To better understand the role of the luciferases of sympatric fireflies in recognizing mates, we cloned the luciferase genes of three sympatric forest dwelling fireflies (Diaphanes nubilus, Diaphanes pectinealis, and Diaphanes sp2) and evaluated their enzyme characteristics.
